Hi there! I was banded the 13th and had a question about some pain I am having. My incisions are a bit sore but nothing that bad, The part that is killing me is a spot between my ribs. Is this where my band is located? It doesn't hurt all the time but I get sudden sharp shooting pain that takes my breath away and then it is gone. I have not been able to burp once since surgery and wondering if this is what it is? Did anyone else have this problem and did you find a way to help it???

Good morning! I am 8 days post op and back to work as of yesterday. I had one day of my port area - which is between my ribs - hurting but it has since passed. I too have not been able to burp since surgery and it is a horrible feeling. I've found gas-x chewables yesterday which I think helps. A heating pad and hot showers got me through that first week. Hang in there and keep your eye on the prize!

More than likely it's the same incision I had below my breast plate and above my rib cage. It's just a more sensative area I think. I just now have releif and I had on the 11th. I am about 90% better now. Hollar if you need anything else!

Anybody still having the pain in the left shoulder area from gas? I get it every time I drink and I am still on full liquids. I'm 6 days out. Thanks

I had a surgery on Oct 15th and the sporadic pain in my left shoulder is still there. Prune juice and digestive (constipation) tea really helped with getting my bowel moving (incl passing of gas) which relieved the pressure on diaphragm and subsequently on my shoulder. Until I discovered prune juice and digestive tea, the pain was almost unbearable. Try to do whatever you works for you to get your bowel moving and gas out of your body as that's that main cause of pain (or so I was told at the hospital). Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
