North Van/Vancouver Bandster Meeting.

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone :)

I hope this finds you all doing well with your bands and living life to the fullest.

Some of you may 'know' me or remember me as I organized the North Vancouver bandster meetings at Lion's Gate Hospital for the last 5 years.

I will no longer be doing these meetings but have told Doreen (Doddie) that she is welcome to take over and use the room for meetings if she chooses. I'm sure she will post soon to let everyone know if there will be a meeting this month or not.

I have always enjoyed seeing you all and meeting some phenomenal bandsters but at this time I can not commit to the long drive every month for a meeting that has slowly been getting smaller and smaller. Don't get me wrong, I loved being there even if there were only 3 of us chatting.

If the meetings continue, either at Lion's Gate or another venue, hopefully I can arrange myself so that I can pop in now and then to catch up with you all.

Again, thank you for the support and taking the time to attend meetings, I enjoyed then more than you know. Keep supporting each other and helping each other as much as you can !!!

Feel free to drop me a note to let me know how you're doing, I'll look forward to hearing about your amazing journies.

All the best,

Patricia

Good Morning everyone,

I just recievec an email from Doreen and she will not be continuing the Lions Gate meeting. Unfortunately this looks like the end of the North Vancouver group.

I have not cancelled the use of the room at Lions Gate yet so if any of you would like to take over and organize a meeting, please let me know and I will make contact with them to let them know that we will continue to use the room.

Hopefully any of you that need support will be able to find some close and carry on with your journies.

Keep in touch, I enjoyed meeting all of you and sharing.

All the best,

Patricia

Hi Patricia,

I just emailed you asking about the meeting, then found this thread. I'm sorry the Lions Gate group has petered out. Seems interest was dwindling for awhile. False Creek Clinic is attempting to get one going & keep it regular. They may be looking for a space to meet so I'll pass along the idea of keeping the meeting room at LG. Hopefully they can open it up to all bandsters.

Hope all is well with you.

Lyn

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
