cake? cupcakes?

Recommended Posts

Ok- I know you shouldn't partake in these tasty treats often, but I am going to a wedding and don't want to get stuck so I'm just curious if any of you have any problems with cake or cupcakes. i have been too scared to even try bread, but since they are along the same consistency I was wondering if any one had any problems. Thanks.

Yes and no. At first I did, but, discovered that very small bites at a time and you should be able to participate, however, stop immediately if you start feeling a sliming episode. Breads will work for me as long as the bread is toasted and again small bites.

Yes to what the op said. But, plan to eat a very small piece. What you could have/would have eaten before will be way too much, now! Karen

I cannot eat anything cakey because it always gets stuck. I cant eat bread either. You pretty much wont know until you try it bit to me it was not worth it. Even a little piece got stuck horribly and I was in a lot of pain. It doesnt mean it will happen to you I just cant eat it. You dont have to feel bad for passing up cake its not a big deal if you dont eat it. I wouldnt worry about it if you really dont want to try your band especially in a place that wouldnt be nice if you did get stuck.

Generally cup cakes are easy as they dissolve before they get to the band.

fruit cake is dense and can be quite hard.

Scones are doughy and cause problems like bread.< /p>

Cheesecake is easy.

chocolate mousse cake is easy.

So choose the type of cake that will slip past your band and you will be fine( just don't do it on a regular basis)

It depends on your fill level as well.

If you are newly banded and not at your sweet spot you will probably be fine. Like others said small bites.

The more incing the better as it is easier for things to go down. Cupcakes are hard to eat in small bites so you might have some in your mouth for a while.

I am at my sweet spot and can eat anything but I know how to work with my band. bread can get stuck if I dont eat it right but we have learned how to manage together.

However with all the effort it takes to eat these foods that are not so good, it doesnt seem worth it to me.

I fixed a pineapple upside down cake this weekend for the family and I'm not a cake eater but this is one cake I will eat lol.

I had a slice of it and about a hour later that sugar hit me and let me tell you my whole body reacted to it . I got dizzy , light headed , headache and everything . That stayed with me for a good couple hours. I thought my blood pressure was to high at first so I checked it and it was 110 over 65 so it wasn't high.

I'm not use to that kind of sugar anymore and my body let me know. Be careful that your body dont react to it .

That is the first time that has happened to me since my band surgery , it was not fun. I still have that cake sitting here on the table and have no dang desire to eat it .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
