Slow going. Down 23 pounds. I feel like things didn't really start happening until my last fill 3 weeks ago. I'm at 6cc's in a 10cc band. I finally feel like I have a Lap Band! I really didn't feel very much restriction. and I had never had any episodes of regurgitation until this last fill. Hope that things progress pretty well from here on out.

Hello! I am 5 months po and down about 40 lbs since the day of surgery. I lost about 10 lbs prior.... I had some slow going over the past 2 months, but I got my 2nd fill last week, and now the weight seems to be melting away again. Not sure how long it will last though. I was really tight for the first 6 days after the fill, which was 1 cc, but I seemed to have loosened up and can eat solid food again. Still keeping my portions way down, and the hunger doesn't come as frequently. Good luck to you all!!

I was banded May 18th. Lost 10 lbs on pre-op diet plus 27 lbs post-op = 37 lbs total lost to date.

I have never really felt much restriction as I can get anything down as long as I chew well. My first fill was mid July and I really didn't feel much of a difference. I havn't lost a pound in the last month! I just had my second fill last week...still not feeling much restriction. I have 5 cc so far in a 10 cc band. I think I will be asking my doc for another fill sooner this time if I continue to feel hungry between meals or am able to eat too large a portion.

Btw, I've had a couple of stuck (or disgusting sliming) episodes but it was because I was not concentrating and ate too fast; never from overeating.

May 5th for me. I have had several fills, currently up to 7.4cc's in my 10cc band. Down about 45lbs give or take. Had one fill done on 10.4.11 but ended up having a major cold and severe back pain so that fill was removed on 10.6.11 and just put back in today.

Hope everyone is doing well :)

I havent lost any weight for 3 weeks now but I am thinking it because I am going to the Y for 3 cardio classes a week. I am not sure how much I should be eating on those days.huh.gif

I was banded on May 4th. I have lost about 70.5 pounds and haven't had any fills yet. I hope I don't ever have to.

I've been pretty much the same weight for the past month, but I haven't gained, so i'm happy with it. I'm sure it will get moving again soon.

Got my 4th fill last Wednesday! I'm now up to 7 cc in an 11 cc band and I'm hoping I'm at my sweet spot! I'm down about 37 lbs! Only went from a size 28 to a 24/22 but I'll take it :) I love going shopping in my closet for "new" clothes I haven't worn in years!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
