kaye1229 1 Posted October 14, 2011 I vomit probably twice a week because i have a hard time slowing down, and even sometimes if i do eat right i still can vomit. Is this normal? N does anyone ever wanna just eat normal again? I feel depressed sometimes because i cant enjoy simple food sometimes. Those commercials that make lapband lifestyle seem like a breeze, those commercials should be banned.

I havent been banded yet but from all the research I have done, I dont think you should be vomiting at all. Have you contacted your doctor?
sweetcalichic 6 Posted October 14, 2011 Hang in there! I vomit every single day. Sometimes liquids are even hard to keep down. I feel your pain in wanting to eat normal again, I think about it all the time. When out with friends its the worst! But, with all that said, I'm even more excited about my success. I'm 20 lbs from 100 lbs lost, down almost 10 sizes and for the first time in my life able to purchase clothes off the rack. My look on it is, I ate what I wanted for 20 years and was fat and unhappy and still gaining, being able to eat chili cheese pastraimi fries, hot dogs and whatever else is so not worth it. Kristi Twisti 18 Posted October 15, 2011 Sweetcalichic is so right!! I watch my hubby with food, or anyone else really and I get jealous at times. However, the weight loss is so worth it. Within months of being banded, I've gotten so much more energy, gone down many clothes sizes and just feel more comfortable in my own body. I do vomit often but you do start to learn, I am nearing 7 months out from being banded and still forget I have it sometimes, but I am learning. Being banded is truly a process, with its ups and downs but things will improve. Good luck to you!!

Well get ready then because throwing up is a weekly thing but you try to make it not be. It not normal painful throwing up though, can't explain it till u have it then you'll understand. Just be prepared to take on many obstacles but feeling good inside n out is kinda worth it. Just don't rush in. If any part of u thinks u can loose weight on your own and keep it off then I'd say don't do it. But if not then just do a lot of research, n throwing up is normal. Julia_N 2 Posted October 16, 2011 Even when I'm following the rules, I still do a little vomiting. You have to eat slowly and small bites. I always forget that. I've even gotten stuck on cottage cheese and chicken soup! My theory is that it's stuck above your band, so it's not as damaging as if you got food poisoning or bad flu. I don't try to eat a lot of meat, just fairly soft stuff. Sometimes a food that goes down easy one time will get stuck another.
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted October 16, 2011 People WTH you are not supposed to be vomiting ever. You think that its normal and its okay really???? People with the lapband are NEVER supposed to throw up and if you are then you need to get some unfill or tell your doctor that you are throwing up. You are putting yourself at risk for a slipped band. It is not normal to throw up and not normal not to be able to swallow Water. You should be able to eat without issues and if you are having issues especially vomiting that is not normal. If your vomiting daily then no you need your band adjusted. But if you eat too fast or food that is too big you can throw up, its all their is to it. I've had my surgeon, nutrionists, and other professionals tell me its normal. Unless all of these people are wrong then theres a huge problem, lol. But, their not. Research it or ask, its true. But if you havent experienced it, then your doing great.
waynef 25 Posted October 18, 2011 you should not be vomitting, my dr askes every month if I have. This is not the norm, if it is you need to rethink what you are doing wrong. Continual vomitting with lead to your band slipping, then you will have real problems. Slow down, small bites and chew until mush if you have too, or get unfilled a little bit. ebonymc 52 Posted October 19, 2011 waynef is right, I had a hard time with vomitting too, and was unfilled with relief. after having some added back in, I felt fine but the band was still too tight and although I coulnt tell, my pouch was stretching and I could eat as much as I want. Now I just had an upper GI due to pain and soreness I will see the doctor tomorrow and something tells me I'm in big trouble. either a slippage or erosion for being too tight for too long. be careful with that folks, and pray for me. Hopefully an unfill again would be all I need.
elcee 3,341 Posted October 19, 2011 OMG Now we have the Lap Band police. Please , regurgitating food with the band is not a huge problem as long as it is not something that you do regularly. Your Dr's tell you that there are certain foods that may not agree with your band. Well what the heck do you think happens when you have a band and you eat something that isn't going to go down - yep you bring it back up. And no I will not say vomit it up because it isn't vomiting, that is totally different. Most Dr's gloss over exactly what happens because I am sure they are trying not to put people off prior to surgery. If you are vomiting then yes that can cause your band to slip. Vomiting comes from beneath the band, and is usually associated with quite a bit of force. Regurgitating the food is like when you have too much phlegm and you have to cough and then spit it up. Seriously this is not going to make your band slip. 1 123crod reacted to this
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted October 19, 2011 Ummmm no one is the lapband police but if your vomiting every single day then that is not normal. Yes on occassion and that should be rarely if something gets stuck it may come back up but you should not be vomiting everyday ever and if you are then you need to talk to your doctor. Whom ever thinks it is normal then you need to tell your doctor that your vomiting every single day and see what he says I am sure he will not be happy about that. 1 brendap reacted to this
