well I guess this is good. I went for a check up and slight adjustment today and found i haven't really lost much but somewhere I lost 7 pounds of fat. Not sure how that works but my measurements say I did... I have been lifting weights and running a lot more than usual. I was getting very annoyed that with all this extra work the scale wasn't moving. I guess I should have figured something was happening because people at work starting making positive comments again.(that stopped for a while). I actually had to get a new photo ID for work because I look so different now. For all of you who are nervous and unsure about doing this all I can say is I believe this has saved my life. I am a new person. Do it! stay positive and FOLLOW the rules as best as you can. We all slip up and have weak days but its ok. I am off all of my medication and I no longer use that horrible sleep apnea machine. So many people only post the negatives... I am here to say this is the most positive thing I've ever done for my self...

Wow!, 82 lbs is great! I bet that you do look a lot different than your original photo. I got one of my IDs changed but not my drivers license. (I am just to lazy to stand in a long line for that). Anyway, it is good for me to have the old ID too, it remnds me where I came from. Congrats, I'll bet you look great! Karen

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
