I was banded on Tuesday, October 11th

My Band update - right side swelling down/suture area pain free, top suture area swelling is down and pain free, left area and port area (navel area) still tight/tender/sore. Can tell it's muscular pain where port was sutured in place. Still have some gas bubbles but heating pad and hot shower has helped. Still managing pain with X-strength Tylenol liquid since the loritab made me feel too loopy!

Hi, I was "Banded" on Oct 4, 2011. I admit it took a lot out of me energy wise & that gas pain was absolutely awful for approx 4 days. I started feeling stronger and back to my normal self by Sun Oct 9. Had my follow up with the surgeon this past Tues. I have this pain that comes and goes in my left shoulder. My surgeon says it will id how the body defers pain from one section to another.. He said its due to the repair of the "hiatal hernia" I had. The DR advised me to move on the next food intake I was happy about that.!!! Even though my scale weight is not accurate, today I put on a

a pair of "scrubs" I use for just wearing around the home and they were so big & loose I laughed out lout !!

I then proceeded to create a Video to sendt o my children to show them how weight I had lost.

I hope this helps and remember i"Never accept 100% of others postings in this Forum, about pain, exercising..etc as each of our bodies will respond differently while healing

Hoping your journey is a "successful one..

Cynthia

I have been eating Beans and lentils that I made as well as scrambled egg beaters, cottage cheese and yoghurt. Its not bad. I feel satisfied. Just still battling with this gas. But getting better every day. Just wish I did not crash around noon every day for about an hour or so then bounce back.

:D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
