I think he said sorry for the title but he wanted to make sure we read it! And obviously, we all did because of the title. :)

Get the band honey! You are too young for the other.

I was banded yesterday! I feel like crap today, to be expected, but I look forward to this journey and taking this weight off for good. I can't wait to be recovered and start eating healthy and exercising again.

Poodle,

Hope you feel better soon.

Skintyprincess, I think they just like to complain. You are so stating rhetorically obvious. He is a great marketer imo.

Cutting away you're stomach just seems so drastic.

There were several people in my final session prior to surgery that had had bypass in the past, regained the weight, & were coming now for the band!

hello

sorry for the title but i know it will make many enter and see first of all im not bandded until now but ill do it on november i was thinking of the lap-band when i went to the doctor but then he advised me to do the sleeve which is taking a part of my stomach out & because they are so close in the price im considering it but then i say to myself isnt it a bit dangerous than the lap-band so this goes on & on for every day i dont know which one should i choose please help

Go with the sleeve it is totally safer. Less chances of infections due to you won't have to have a needle stuck into your port and increase the chances of infection or perferation. I did the band and the doctor put in a dirty band and I had to fight for my life 6 weeks later he contaminated it and then every needle that went in the port put bacteria inside the port and I had to have emergency surgery to save my life and spent a week in the hospital trying to live. Not fun, not happy and still without a band. Sucks when you qualify and the doctor screws up and you are blamed for some how causing my own internal infection and the hospital never correcting what happened and pleasing the patient. No they say hey doctor good job on getting the insurance to pay once and then paying again for the removal and the stay even when we caused the entire problem. All I am left with is trauma and a crap load of scars all over my stomach area that I have to see for the rest of my life and know I was the victum of a careless, heartless, doctor in NH

It sounds like it was a problem with your doctor instead of a problem with the lap-band. If they put in a dirty band and contaminated needles that would be the problem.

Dirty Lap-Band & Needles??? HMMMM sounds like a malpratice to me!

Also my surgeon did mention to me that some insurances only cover 1 of these weight loss surgeries in a lifetime. So check with your insurance because if you want something more premanent then you may want to go with the sleeve. For me the lapband is what I am comfortable with, IF it doesn't work and my insurance doesn't cover another procedure I am OK with that. I picked a surgeon from a Center of Excellence and head of the Bariatric department at the hospital. He also told me that there are a lot of clinics that perform these surgeries and then surgeons like himself have to fix their problems. So if you are getting the sleeve and cutting out your stomach make sure its with a great surgeon. Hard to fix something that has been cut out of you.

I have had my lap band in for two days. Im bruised and feeling light headed because of a clear liquid diet. I chose the band because after looking extensively into the options it seemed to suit me because, as others have said it is reversable, and controllable. It was interesting what my Doctor said about the long term prognosis for obesity...He thinks scientists are close to a "cure" within the next ten years ..... Who knows, by then I hope to have lost and KEPT OFF this time around 80lbs!!

Had the band in July and lost over 30 lbs. Happy with the way I am losing. Would not want to lose any quicker.....not healthy. Band really makes me make good choices as I cannot tolerate alot of carbs. Happy I made this decision. CAT

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
