How did you do it? Did you feel restriction? I am just mind boggled by it.

One of the girls i go to fitness classes with lost over 40kg (85lb?) without ever having any liquid in her band. She said her appetite was reduced but a lot of it for her was phycological. She has now had her tummy and boobs done(12 months post op) and looks great, last time i saw her she was thinking about getting her first fill.

Me, i have 9ml in my band and still struggle not to eat too much. Everyones journey is different.

5 months in today. No Fills. I see my doctor the end of this month. I lost 40 lbs before surgery and another 42 after. The weight loss is gradual and I like that as I feel that is the best way to keep the weight off long term. For me, I wanted this to be a test of my will power rather than just forcefully limiting myself via lapband. I wanted this to be a lifestyle change and I wanted to change my behaviors forever.

I do feel restriction. I have got stuck a few times which SUCKS! But I am also eating a lot less and a lot healthier than I used to. I stopped eating Rice, Potatoes and bread. I cut out junk food and fast food. I work out at least 4 times a week. I am more active and have more muscle. I have lost a lot of inches. Went from a size 50 waist to a 42 and that is starting to feel a bit saggy. I went from a 4xl to a 2xl.

Will I get fills in the future, probably. I am not "anti-fill" or anything like that, but to me the hardest part was getting my head right and the lap band seemed to help me with that. I think for me. I look at the surgery itself as my rock bottom in my food addiction. It really affected me that I let myself go to the point that surgery needed to be involved. That only encouraged me to really focus on my health and make long term changes.

Everyone one is different and this is how I feel about things. :) thanks for reading.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
