go all the way today 0 Posted October 12, 2011 hello, i am new here. i have been researching all kinds of options, from lap band to liposuction to Tummy Tuck to gastric bypass. and i am still undecided on what i really need to do. its hard to be a severely overweight person in california, with all these pretty people surrounding me. i am always uncomfortable. and i fear for my health for the future, because i know that being obese can lead to likelihood of heart attack or high blood pressure, leading to stroke. could anyone help me out, and point me in the right direction? thank you so very much. Dave_NW 92 Posted October 12, 2011 hello, i am new here. i have been researching all kinds of options, from lap band to liposuction to Tummy Tuck to gastric bypass. and i am still undecided on what i really need to do. its hard to be a severely overweight person in california with all there pretty people surrounding me. i am always uncomfortable. and i fear for my health for the future, because i know that being obese can lead to likelihood of heart attack or high blood pressure, leading to stroke. could anyone help me out, and point me in the right direction? thank you so very much. You're in the right place. Read everything here you can, and you'll see that the people who have successfully worked their lapband are living a great life as a smaller, much happier person. I include myself in that group. I started my journey a year ago at 320 pounds. In less than ten months after surgery I've lost more than 120 pounds, and now tip the scales at 199. I'm active, healthy, and I feel awesome. If I have any regrets, it's that it took me so long to get off my lazy ass and do something about my obesity. California is just as tough as you say, but it's the same as anywhere else. Fat people are ignored, treated badly, even vilified, for something a lot of them can't control. If you're truly sick of being obese, and are prepared to do the work required to honestly change your life, then lapband may be a great option for you. The other things you named are either cosmetic or require cutting up your insides. The lapband is the least invasive, and is essentially reversible. And I'm here to tell you that if you're ready to work for it, the band will give you control over your body, and it will give you back your life. Ask your doctor if you're a good candidate, and if so, then go for it. You have nothing to lose except all those extra pounds. But you stand to gain back your future, and your self esteem. Trust me - I've been there. And I'm never going back. Dave

johnny4you 0 Posted October 13, 2011 I believe that adjustable gastric banding by a wide margin is the safest and most effective way to achieve permanent weight-loss for the severely obese.

johnny4you 0 Posted October 13, 2011 Though there are many risks involved in having surgery, complication rates should be low. The ideal surgery would be one that doesn't require stapling or re-routing of the intestines. It should not cause Vitamin deficiency or malnourishment. For a weight-loss procedure to be effective, you must loss at least 50% of your excess weight. Adjustability is desired because our bodies are constantly changing. Also, it’s reversible. bellaloco 13 Posted October 18, 2011 ditto to everything others have said alread, but I wanted to add my opinion about liposuction and tummy tucks... I am in no way an expert, but have a really good friend that is a plastic surgeon...liposuction and tummy tucks really only work for people that are looking to get rid of those "last 5-10 pounds." From your question, it sounds like you have a bit more to lose than that. If you are going to spend that kind of money, go with the band!

He saved hundreds of lives, Dr Davtyan offers the best aftercare in the Los Angeles area; see the testimonial from one of his patients: "...Now 6 months later, I am well on my way to my goal weight. I have lost 60 lbs. All of my diabetes is gone along with high cholesterol, fatty liver and high blood pressure. I can run up and down the stairs and walk for miles with no heavy breathing. I am almost ready to shop in "regular" stores. I don't buy "old lady" clothes anymore. I sleep in my own bed and don't wake up every few hours. But not only have I lost weight, I still go out with my friends and eat what I like. I just eat a lot less of it. I don't have to "sacrifice" anything. My body lets me know when I have had enough and I listen. I have my life back. And I owe it all to Dr. Davtyan and his fantastic staff of caring personnel. I am not a "patient".
