I CANT STOP EATING!!

Recommended Posts

Hi.....

I am new here and I have started the process for the surgery. I have all of my appointments in place and I have started with all the follow-up and everything entailed in getting this surgery underweigh. However, I can not stop eating. I have been on WW for a year, and before that I was on Jenny for 4 years.. I lost some weight with them, but nothing stayed off .... so Lap Band here I come.. but again .... I cant stop eating. Everything in sight gets my attention and I need to figure a way to jut stop this distructive behavior!!

Any suggestions on how to get back on track?

Thanks!!! VG63

Hi,

I was the same way! Wanted to eat, eat, eat...

But I had to do the Adkins diet for 4 weeks prior to my surgery and I lost about 10 lbs and that GOT ME EXCITED!!! Maybe you could try doing that because my doctor wanted me to try and lose weight before the surgery.

At least on the Adkins diet, you don't get that hungry!

Hang in there, it is all worth the work!! :D

Thanks... yeah... I am going to have to try something... thanks for the words of encouragement though... I will figure it out.

Got to do several "studies".. this whole process is quite amazing. I have to go have blood drawn and pick up stuff to do a urine test. They want me to collect my pee for 24 hours... that is for the endocronologist... I see the cardiologist on Thursday.. I saw the pulminary doc and he wants lung tests and a "sleep study" done because he suspects that I have sleep apnea. That will keep my mind pretty busy.. but then I have to wait till 11/10 for the endoscopy... (yuck) the psych eval and the nutritionist visit. Phew.. they sure keep you hopping!!

I am sure in the long run it will all be worth it. I am keeping my eye on the prize at the end of the journey... and I cant wait!!

Thanks again!!!

Hi, my name is Rachel and I'm on the road to Lap Band Surgery and a new beginning. My surgery is scheduled for October 18th. I had a rough weekend. Doctor put me on liquid diet on Tuesday because I gained 2 pounds. I did okay the first day on the Bariatric shake, but on the second day, I started throwing up every time I had even water! Well, I figured out the back pain meds I take are too strong and this caused the vomiting. So now I spread out my meds in between the shake meals. Good thing was that I had lost some weight with not being able to hold down any food. Today was a better day. Lap Band Surgery is scary for me, though, because I worry about complications, pain, loose skin....all that fine stuff. But my health is my priority and I want to believe that I made a good decision.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
