Light headed

Recommended Posts

I am suffering from light headedness that makes me feel as though I am going to faint. So far I haven't fainted but I have had times where I have had to sit or lie down.

I suspect it is by blood pressure dropping too low but the last time I saw my dr about this my blood pressure was the same as normal. I am still on one tablet for BP.

I am seeing my dr again tomorrow as I can't keep going like this. Apart from blood pressure, does anyone else have any ideas what could be going on? I would like to go into my dr appointment with as much information as possible.

Thanks everyone.

Does it seem to happen at certain times, or can you not pinpoint it? Like, when you stand up or get out of bed?

It does sound like blood pressure. I had the same problem before my BP meds got reduced. I could not give my BP pill up completely, but take 2.5 mg pill. Good luck. Karen

I was experiencing the same thing about five months ago , and I just about passed out at my bowling league. I was light headed, dizzy .

I found I was keeping my calories way to low and my carbs way to low .

As soon as I added more carbs into my life and added more calories I have not had a single problem with getting light headed .

Do you get tunnel vision as well as the dizzyness? I used to get tunnel vision when I ate really really low calories in college.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
