Hi

On Friday night I got food stuck and vomited slime for almost 4 hours. Yesterday night I had a meal and felt very little restruction. Issue is that since then. I feel that my band slipped. I have a sharp pain around my stomach area, around where the band would be. When I eat, it hurts worse. Am I bruised? Could I have torn a suture? Has anyone had this? Please help! I pay cash to go ot the doc and get get in for 2 weeks anyway. I'm scared. Hopefully I'm just bruised.

Thanks

Hi:

You didn't mention how long you've been banded. You should do all liquids for a couple of days to calm things down and to rest your insides. If you can keep liquids down you'll be okay until you see your doctor. If you cannot keep liquids down you need to go to the emergency room.

Hope you feel better soon.

Take care.

Sue

I had an awful stomach bug which I puked for 3 days HARD!! I too was really worried about having slipped the band. My dr removed my Fluid beacuse everything was so irritated and now things seem to be getting back to normal. He said that I would not be able to hold anything at all down if I had a slip. I'm just taking it easy now and hoping that it all goes back to normal soon. I hope you feel better soon too!

You asked how long I've been banded. Was banded December 2009 but finally filled for the first time 2.5 weeks ago.

I vomited a lot on Friday. Now I can eat just about anything, I don't feel restriction anymore, just this dull pain between my port and belly button that become a sharp pain when I eat.

Something doesn't feel right. I don't have insurance coverage that will pay for anything regarding removal, revision, etc. I'm scared to death now and not sure what to do.

I know that the surgeon stitched the band to my stomach. Maybe a stitch just popped or something? So scared!

I agree that you should have liquids/mushies only for a few days. Also, add an acid reducer, prilosec, zantzc... My band is currently slipped and deflated awaiting repositioning. I can eat and drink with out pain but have recurring heart burn.

Everything is probably fine but really irritated from the vomiting.

Best of luck!

Joan

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
