Hi everyone! I am 8 weeks post-op (aug 15) and feeling fabulous! My question is can i be OK with not ever having a fill? I have restriction and have never had a fill. I have lost over 25 pounds and my doctor says if i am losing no fill is needed. I have what he called a standard size lap band with no fill. Since the beginning i have felt restriction and some days more than others. I have had 2 stuck episodes which i threw up and felt better but a little sore that day and the next day. Has anyone else never NOT have a fill? I will be OK if i continue down this path (2 lbs a week). I wonder if I am just being extremely optimistic thinking this way. I am also self pay. Thanks for all your good advice~~

Same thing here. I was banded 8/31, lost over 25 lbs, no fills..am scheduled for a fill next week, but may cancel it. I havent had any "stuck" episodes, and nothing has come back up. I am hungry on and off, but try to have healthy fat free Snacks. I think i may hold off for my fill until i start to gain weight (which i hope doesnt happen). I have read many posts about people losing over a 100 pounds without any fills, so it can be done! good luck!

I haven't had to have a fill. I'm 8 months post op, and just hit my goal that I sat when I meet my dr. It's 130 pounds. I've lost 101 pounds.

Will you keep losing? Will this be a problem? Sorry to sound so worried but what happenes after ai am done losing??!! thanks!

We have quite a few people on this board who have lots tons of weight without ever getting a fill :) Enjoy it for now, and don't beat yourself up if it doesn't last... but remember that it might!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
