Hi Everyone,

Well tomorrow will by my 12th day with the band and I am feeling sad. I only went down 2 KG. Now i weigh 77KG. I feel for the past 2 weeks, I've barely had a decent meal and still not achieved any big change in my weight. Many people talk about how they lost so much weight in their first and second week. But, I just sometimes wonder, when is my turn :-( I know I will loose the weight in time..but maybe I'm just getting carried away. I know it isn't a magic band. I just really wish I can see a 60 something number when I step on the scale.< /p>

I can only tell myself, that maybe my period is coming soon...so perhaps I am bloated? ..really? sighh :-(

Don't feel sad. You shouldn't be concerned about the weight loss right now. I wouldn't even step on the scale if i were you. The first 4-6 weeks are about healing, not weight loss. I gained a few pounds after surgery. I've been told its because you are putting your body through such a drastic change, that your body is holding on to fat. The pounds will start to come off before you know it. I'm 6 weeks post op and down almost 30 pounds. After surgery i gained a couple pounds, then the scale didn't move at all for like 2 weeks and then i started losing almost a pound a day. My weight loss is just now starting to steady a little bit at 6 weeks out. My doctor told me i can start focusing on the weight loss around 7 weeks out. Hang in there, It will happen. Focus on healing right now.

Hi,

thank you for your message and support. I guess today, I was taking out my winter clothes and my favorite jacket was tight. I felt to just cry and cry because I have no idea how Iet my weight get so out of control. I feel the person looking at me in the mirror isn't the person I am. I just hope I can get better and see the weight come off. I really do..

Are you tracking your calories? At first I wasn't losing much post op but then I realized my calorie intake was super low. I started using 2% milk in my shakes to up my calories and then I started seeing a difference. I aimed for 900-1000 calories. Don't worry, it will come off.

Fear not, you're not alone! I was banded on August 17th, 2011. I haven't lost a pound! I have lost 5 inches off my hips and 6 off of my bust, but no WEIGHT! I am beyond irritated, and mostly I am depressed. I got filled a week ago and I've noticed that I'm eating far less, but still no weight loss. I don't know what the answer to your problem is, but know you have a friend in me if you need one!

Thanks everyone for being so supportive. HUGS! I guess it's just that I felt it would come off easy and quickly...but it's taking forever. I am trying to count calories.

I'm just not gonna step on the scale for a few days. The scale is freaking me out!

Sounds like you got the Sugery 'blues". It won't be long and the weight will come off, you are less the a month post op, prolly still some swelling , and if it is your TOM, well you know. Give it some time. I have only lost 50 lb in 9 months, but have lost 40". Chin up, it gets better. PS, I don't count calories or carbs, I am choosing to eat normally and not be on a diet.

Don't worry! I did not lose much weight until my first fill, one month after surgery. My surgeon sad anything lost in that first month was just a bonus, and he did not expect any loss during that time. You are healing; the loss will come, just stick with your doctor's eating plan and hang in there!

I only lost 9 lbs my first couple of weeks and I was so disappointed because I read about people losing 30 lbs! Or something crazy like that. But I'm 9 weeks out now and its coming off. Your body is so concerned with healing right now that it's last priority is losing weight. You'll get there! Also, you don't have a ton of weight to lose so you'll be at goal before you know it!

Well i'm here with ya too, but I'm out 6 weeks and only lost the first week after surgery. Do u use myfitnesspal to track calories and excersize?? I do, I'm jedi9393. Lets have our pity party together! lol

I am an angry, angry bandster. My surgeon told me that I should be losing regardless of surgery date and what not. so go figure. 1-2lbs a week so far has been BS. Sorry, but thats the truth for me,

Don't get discouraged! I know its easier said than done... but trust me, I was where you are so I know the feeling. There were times I was thinking, I should have just stayed on a diet and I would have the same results or thought I should have gone with gastric bypass instead... but trust me, all those thoughts are out the window now. The weight really did come off and my whole life changed. It's not a magic pill and there are times where I would gain a couple of lbs, but then they would come off plus some. I have lost over 100 lbs in a year and am 11 lbs below the target weight my dr gave me and 1 lb below my personal goal. In time, I am sure you will be happy with your results.. there will peaks and valleys, but in the end I think you will be happy with your decision. Hang in there!

You have to give it time. Step up your exercise it always helps. Once it starts to come off it should be steady. Give it time stress will only make it worse!

Like the other poster said here-the 1st 4-6 weeks are for healing, not weight loss.I was banded + I had imbrication/gastric plication (stomach folding/suturing) August 31st and since then I have lost 32 lbs, however,I was on a strict liquid diet from August 17th-September 3rd,and then full liquids.I have passed the mushies stage and I am now able to eat solids, taking it very very cautiously.I have my first fill in my band on Oct 14th this Friday.I think I lost weight before my 1st fill because I started excercising and attempting to lose July 19th which was the day of my consultation and then I cut out all excersice for September as my incisions would hurt if I moved around a lot.Don't fret...everyone loses differently and your turn will be soon.

There are several things to factor in when you are not losing as quickly as you think you should-

One of these goes unnoticed, but think of the unhealthy items you ate before surgery-if you were like me you ate sugars, starch, artificial colors,preservatives,etc...so in essence your body may be going through a "detox: phase right now because you are no longer feeding it bad stuff in large quantities so it is going through a 'shock' if you will.

Our bodies do go through a shock even when we pick up healthy habits-this is why you feel like you are going to die when you begin an excercise program because it shocks your system-you are doing what the body is not used to so you feel pain, but it gets better and turns into feelings of feeling great and having energy after a workout later on .

I would say that as a whole we are an "instant gratification" society and this is why we want things to happen now.It is normal to want the weight to come off in a week-we all feel this way. If you just have patience and follow the band rules for eating and incorporate some movement you will do great!

I know waiting is the hardest part but we all are trying to undo years and years of bad habits involving our food choices,Body Dismorphia Disorder, quality of food, portion size, social pressures to eat, body image issues, compulsive eating, comforting ourselves with food,etc..There is way more that we are healing from than just wanting the pounds to come off.

Good luck on your journey! And don't be sad-there is a whole new life waiting right around the corner just for you!!! ((((Hugs!)))))

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
