I DID IT!!!! I was banded on Friday and as I sit here in my hospital bed sipping on tea, apple juice and Jello I realize this is the most empowering thing I've ever done... Ya there was pain involved but when I compare it to the pain of trying on clothes or being just a pretty face all these years it motivates me to work harder! I am sooo proud of all of us who have committed to taking control of our lives and not allowing food to be our BFF anymore! I hate that part of me has been embarrassed about getting banded bc in my mind I felt like it was a cop out... If I only buckled down. But now I realize that the true cop out was my binge eating, not taking a step forward to attain the long and healthy life I deserve to live! I have kept this from many who are close to me bc I was scared of what they might say but I can't wait to tell them that NOW I am in controll!! :) thanks to everyone for all your support! I couldn't have don't it without you!

Congrats Miss Jay!!

You have fabulous attitude and I believe that is a huge part of this journey. The band is our guide, a healthy positive attitude propels that guide forward whereas a negative attitude acts like an anchor and weighs us down or stops us dead in our tracks.

Keep that sunshine outlook!

Hello Everyone!!! I was banded on Friday, November 18th!!! 4 days post-op, some lightheadness from meds, Water is ok, but I prefer to have warm tea (feels better), love my popsicles and broth with a little parsley sprinkled in :) Gas pains come and go, not as much in my shoulder as everywhere else, but Maalox Advanced Maximum Strength Cherry Flavor has been my best friend!! GAS-X didn't work very well for me. I plan to get on the scale by the end of the week...cant wait to see what it says!!

I know I gained weight.... But it will all come off. Just be patient. That's the key.

Now that you are finally Banded, take advantage of it.

I t will work.

@shirley, I'm 2 weeks post op and have only managed to Lose 4 pounds. The scale is refusing to change. I am so discouraged as I am sticking to the diet. I have no restriction and I'm still hungry. Can u tell me when this will go away? I'm in banster hell for sure. Just looking for some encouragement. Please advise.

I have lost 12 lbs but it would seem that I am stuck... I think I will really try to drink all of the Water, eat smaller portions and hide the scale. My first post -op appt is this Weds. I will have lots of questions for my Doc. I still get hungry also! Partner in bandster in hell:(

I was banded Nov 17..I started being hungry the 4th day and it felt like starvation. I start full liquids on Wednesday which can consist of thinned malt o meal and oatmeal, so I went ahead and made the executive decision to make very thin malt o meal with a sweet n low packet. It definitely did the trick. I was able to eat maybe 4 teaspoons and then I felt full so I stopped eating. I have been doing that every day since. I realize that drs have rules for a reason, but I know my own body and I needed something with substance. I have also lost 8.2 lbs since last Thursday and I am starting to feel better now that I have "regular" food in me. I make enough for one serving (3 table spoons dry malt o meal to 1 cup boiling water) and it literally lasts me all day. By no means am I telling you not to follow your drs orders, I am just telling you to follow your own body. Not everyone is a textbook case. Hope this helps!

Hi all I am 11 days post op - one of the 11/11's. I am stuck as well - I lost 10 pounds on preop diet and as of Friday 11/18 I had lost 3 pounds but inspite of being hungry the scale has not moved since Friday. I still have the occasional feel of indigestion and a pain under my left breast bone but other than when that happens I feel good. I go on December 2nd for follow up - I hope I get a fill then - hoping that will make the difference in the losing...I am also told because I am not eating the calories that I was that my body has possibly gone into the starvation mode and that will cause you to stop losing for a bit - we'll see just trying to remain patient and remember that though I want to see results for what I have put myself through - I don't want to lose to fast either.

I hope my post finds my other 11/11s as well as all other bandsters doing well. What is everyones plans for Thanksgiving. I am having the family for dinner as usual and will enjoy time with them which is what it's all about and will pick at some of the pureed/creamed items. Mash potatoes, pumpkin (no crust) - I am told I can puree Turkey with gravy - haven't yet decided whether I will take that leap or not. However, you decide to spend the dinner portion of Thanksgiving - have fun and enjoy!!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
