Hippygirl 8 Posted October 6, 2011 Hi..I would like to know the answer to this too. I will let you know if I find out anything. Has anyone had to travel 2 weeks after having surgery? katwomantexas 2 Posted October 6, 2011 I travel a lot with my band and have had no issues. When I am on the road I always try to order Soups, chili, and other foods like that. Since you are newly banded you probaly wont be getting stuck but most likely are on mushy stage. Those kinds of foods are easy to find. I do always take my Protein shakes with me and use the hotel fridge to cool them. I am 4 months out but still use Protein Shakes because of the amount of cardio I do. Any questions just ask. skintyprincess 12 Posted October 6, 2011 Thank you so much for replying KatwomanTexas!! I am adding you as a friend because I think I may have more questions. I plan on taking my Protein with me. Just wondered about lifting luggage and laptop at 2 weeks?

IamKim 1 Posted October 7, 2011 I also travel frequently for work. I was supposed to go on a trip 2 weeks after surgery and am glad I asked my dr first. I was told not to fly because apparently it puts you at risk for blood clots. You might want to check into it.
NJGirl32 43 Posted October 7, 2011 That's a good point about the blood clots. I would probably not travel 2 weeks post surgery especially if you have suitcases and a laptop to lug around. I was still sore 2 weeks post surgery. I was told not to lift anything heavy I think for 6 weeks.
DawnMavity 0 Posted October 7, 2011 I also travel frequently for work and am in a hotel now. I was banded 3 weeks ago. I have had no issues, but I have had the bell boys move all of my luggage, as my doctor told me no lifting in excess of 10 pounds for 4 weeks post-op. I also am still on liquids and have had a great experience at the restaurants when asking for chicken broth (I am still restricted to Protein drinks, chicken broth, and herbal tea). Other than that I just brought my Protein Drinks with me. If you do travel, be sure to get up and move around every hour or so to help keep the blood moving. katwomantexas 2 Posted October 7, 2011 I had no trouble with lifting after surgery. You will be fine 2 weeks out unless you are lifting some really heavy stuff I dont see an issue. skintyprincess 12 Posted October 7, 2011 Thank you Ladies!! I am so excited to see others that travel for a living and are banded. Let's keep in touch. I look forward to hearing how you are doing with the band on the road! I know I will bring or buy my Protein Shakes and ask for broth. I just can't wait to be banded! Counting down!
