tight feeling in my chest

Recommended Posts

i'm 3 weeks post op today. today I tried to eat some chicken salad at lunch and about 30 minutes after I ate i had this really tight feeling in my chest. Sometimes I get a little of this feeling eating pudding. Anyone know what this is? Is it stuck, or just having a hard time going down? I ate about 1/2 sandwich (no bread) w/in a 30 minute time span. Maybe I should just stick with Soups.< /p>

Idk... but i'm 4 weeks post op and I run into the same feeling. My doctor says its heartburn and it can come from several different things. He gave me a prescription for the heartburn and told me to watch what eat that causes the heartburn and I noticed mine was coming from boiled eggs. So Idk, its frustrating.

You're probably still swollen. Are you taking super small bites? I had to in the beginning. Are you chewing a ton? When this would happen to me in the beginning I would go back on full liquids for a day and then try solids again. It gives you time for the swelling to go down just in case you irritated anything during your little episode. Also, if I come across foods that I find difficult to eat, I just don't eat them anymore. For instance, I learned I can't eat roast beef. Which is weird because I've tried steak and that was just fine...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
