I was just curious to see how long did it take for you to start loosing weight consistently after post op? I know some people don't lose any the first 6 weeks, during the healing time. So when did the weight start coming off consistantly, was it after you first fill? Second fill? Thanks!!

I've been losing weight consistsntly since surgery. There have been a couple weeks where I haven't lost weight but then it will drop again. I've averaged 3 lbs a week. Don't get frustrated when/if your weight gets at a standstill for a while. It happens to pretty much everyone. :-) hope that helps... That's been my journey so far.

Try not to worry, if you get your fills it will start coming off. I took me over a year to really see significant weight loss, I am now 5 years out and I have lost about 140lbs, I stuggle a little with gaining and losing 10lbs but for the most part I am stable. I thought I had failed at this attempt at weight loss too, until if finally started dropping off. Hang in there it will happen!

It took until my 3rd fill, about 4 months after my surgery when I started really losing. I lost about 10 lbs post op but that was mainly due to the liquid diet. I ate the same things I did post op as I did preop and thought I had failed this attempt also. Then, 4 mths later, after my 3rd fill something spectacular happened - I got full on only a few bites of food! And if I ate 1 bite too much, I'd vomit. I began losing approx 10 lbs a month. I thought for sure I'd be the one person that this surgery didn't work for. I just passed my 2 yr anniversary and I've lost 100 lbs, with about 15 left to lose. It's radically slowed down the past year, and this last 15 lbs is being very stubborn

Good luck to you!

Marci

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
