TracieR 88 Posted October 5, 2011 I've been working out fr a while in my t-shirt and sweatpants. I feel like I finally need to buy some serious workout clothes. Sorry this might be TMI - I can't stand the jiggling and slapping sounds my loose skin makes while I am jumping around. I feel like I need something to hold it all in. Any suggestions what you wear while you are working out? and where to get them?
whitetiger011680 11 Posted October 5, 2011 I wear Danskin. You can find it in the ladies department at wal-mart. Comfortable and affordable.
bellaloco 13 Posted October 13, 2011 My favorite workout pants I got at Old Navy...they are just a basic pair of capri-lenght yoga pants. i find they work pretty well for most everything, except running. If you plan on running a lot, get something with a drawstring waist! Up top, I wear a tight sports bra (champion brand from Target). over the sports bra, I wear a cotton/spandex blend camisole, then a t shirt over that. It may seem like a lot of layers, but they are thin layers, so not bothersome to me...works very well at keeping the jiggling under control!
bromo 17 Posted October 13, 2011 Do the Danskins or Old Navy pants come in plus sizes? I am about to start at a gym and need some things to wear but had no luck today at a local department store in finding any workout clothes in plus sizes.
TracieR 88 Posted October 13, 2011 I ordered a couple of yoga pants from Old Navy in plus size and Danskin from Walmart also in plus size. Not much selection in the stores, much more to choose from online. Thanks for all the suggestions! I am going with the layering idea to keep from jiggling too much!!! Jachut 487 Posted October 14, 2011 I used to be very scornful of the runners and gym bunnies in technical workout gear - "get over yourself" was what I thought. But I'm all over that stuff now - its so much more comfortable. I could no more go for a run in old trackpants and a big tshirt than I could in stillettos and a cocktail dress. Its such a shame that they dont really make the high quality gear for larger sizes, because I think you need it more than ever. when I was larger, i wore a proper sports crop top - not just a Target one, one with good compression support AND an underwired bra - both for support and the crop would prevent the underwires of the bra chafing on my flabby underarms. I liked a tighter fitting cotton camisole under a tshirt for less jiggle factor, but I always had to wear proper exercise tights. I havent jumped on the compression garment bandwagon, I serioulsy cant bring myself to pay $130 for a pair of running tights, but I always went for technical wicking fabric and good "hold". Nowadays I'm just as comfy in running shorts - but I love the ones with little bike shorts sewn into them. And I cant even wear a Tshirt anymore - too hot! I work too hard to have any sleeves, the less on top the better, although I draw the line at just a crop, urgh, dont want to see that on a 43 year old, lol. It might feel rather exposing to wear tighter exercise gear and it may feel a bit showy too if you're a beginning exerciser but it makes so much difference to your comfort. bromo 17 Posted October 15, 2011 Just got back from a trip to Walmart and I found some of the Danskins things in the middle of the aisle summer sales racks. I got 2x and 1x (for went I have lost a little bit more) for very little money. Hurrah!
shoofee 0 Posted October 15, 2011 I found a pretty good selection of Champion plus sized items at a Super Target.
