Old habits hard to die (sweets)

Recommended Posts

Unfourunately, I can not kick the habits of sweets...My bodycraves sweets no matter how much i resist, I need something sweet during the day. I am approaching my one year anniversary and I will be the first to say I have done terrible. I just need to find something that will detox my body of the cravings. I dont have any restriction because I am afraid of the fills.Everytime I get a fill it's an overfill and I just simply feel miserable. Regrouping myself

I don't mean to hurt your feelings but I think you need counselling. I would bet that there is a mind over matter component to your not tolerating ANY fill. I totally understand your sweet craving, I swear, and I cope by exercising more than any time in my life so I can maintain my loss and have my cake (candy, Cookies, pie, brownies, ice cream, etc!!!! LOL) too. It is not easy...this week my cravings have been very strong and I have gone up 4 pounds. I am fresh post op bunion surgery and can't do the treadmill to burn the calories so I am fretting those pounds, but I know I will burn them when I am mobile. Lest you think I am exaggerating...I ate a 3 bar box of Dove chocolate ice cream bars in 15 minutes followed by a 12 ounce bag of new M&M Peanut Butter candy.......as well as regular food that day. So I do understand your dilemma. If you can find a good nice trainer that would be beneficial and maybe attacking from that end before "dieting" would work for you.

Good luck and keep posting your journey.

I'm with you on the craving sweets thing. I have that one week per month (pre-menstral) when all i want is chocolate. I think it would be really hard to control without the fill; with my fill i can have two bites and be done and satisfy my craving. when you had your 'over-fill' how long did you wait to get some removed? you might want them to just give you a very small fill and slowly work up. I can understand why you are hesitant after feeling that way, but to have the band for a year with no restriction seems like you aren't getting all the benefits and are just having to be on a constant 'diet'. I love my band, I do my occassional cheat but with my fills I have no desire to overeat because I dont want to feel uncomfortable. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
