Healthy Snack ideas.....

Well my first fill was this morning and I received 2cc's in my 10cc band. It was painless with just a pinch of a needle. I am on liquids for 24 hours. I will admit though, I'm scared to death to eat real food. I have been able to eat anything the past couple weeks (breads have been no problem at all) and my doctor told me to be very careful because now that I have a fill eating will be very different. She told me to stay away from carbs as much as I can because they will likely get stuck and getting stuck scares me. I also gained 5 pounds since my surgery which is devestating to me. My doctor said that the first 6 weeks was a time of healing and not to beat myself up over the 5 pound gain because I still lost 11 pounds but it is very frustrating to me. My toughest time of the day is after 7pm. I seem to want to snack and I know that if I do feel the need to have a snack that it should be Protein or produce. Can anyone please let me know what some of your favorite healthy snack are?

I must say that I am not a snacker anymore. It was the reason I was so fat to begin with LOL BUT I think cheese sticks are good to snack on, hummus on pretzel chips, maybe a dole fruit cup or sugar free applesauce. I would look to pick high Protein snack so that you could sneak alittle extra in.

How did you quit snacking? That is probably my biggest problem. I'm fine all day long until 7pm hits, maybe it's boredom more than hunger (actually I'm sure it is). What did you do to quit snacking?

I do string cheese, a piece of lunch meat, a few almonds or sometimes a spoonful of Peanut Butter does the trick. I am right in your shoes. I have no restrictions at all and can eat carbs without a problem. Have not had my first fill yet. Hang in there!

I have not had my first fill yet. It is scheduled for Oct 25th. I have been eating a lot of sugar free Popsicles (15 calories per popsicle) and sugar free Jello. I will sometimes have Carbmaster yogurt. The popsicles take off the edge of wanting something sweet. I have lost 26 lbs since I started my pre-op diet and post surgery on Sept 1st. I just don't want to cheat as I know I will make more excuses down the road and end up where I was before.

A friend of mine turned me on to it, and I got it at Target actually. I haven't really looked in the grocery store, but it's probably there I would think.

Also just started eating Fiber one Cereal mixed into fat free yogurt too.

I am a couple months post op and find myself snacking again. My doctor still makes me get at least 60-90 grams of liquid Protein a day so I really try to sip Protein all day long. It's hard but I really try. I find that I snack most at night, especially if it's late night in front of the TV and I KNOW it's from boredom and bad habits. Here are some of my snacking foods (I am trying to cut down),

1. Liquid Protein first to see if that takes away the craving - I use Profect Protein Bullets (Blue Raspberry) with Cherry/Pomegranate Crystal Light, or Syntax nectar Fuzzy Navel Protein powder, or Unjury's chocolate Protein Powder

2. Fage Greek Yogurt with Honey

2. Jif Peanut Butter to go cups

3. costco Humms w Skinny Pretzel sticks (only 5)

Thank you ladies for all your wonderful tips. Last night after 7 I started to feel like I needed to eat something so I sat there for a few minutes to try to identify weather I was really hungry or if it was just in my head. I only had about 600 calories at this point because I was on liquids yesterday since I had my first fill yesterday morning. Well needless to say I felt like it was real hunger so I had a greek yogurt and that seemed to work well for me. My doctor told me to that she would like me to drink less of the Protein Drinks and more of the solid Protein but I'm thinking if a Protein Drink is what helps me in the evening and stops me from snacking that that would be best. Oh my ladies, I wish I knew what it felt like to not think of food so much :-(

I to struggle with snacking at night. It has been my biggest challenge. The thing I have tried is to do something to keep my hands. Take up crocheting, needle work, play a card game. I have even purchased a small electronic casino game just to keep my hands busy. It does seem to help.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
