Scared to eat....

Recommended Posts

Well my first fill was this morning and I received 2cc's in my 10cc band. It was painless with just a pinch of a needle. I am on liquids for 24 hours. I will admit though, I'm scared to death to eat real food. I have been able to eat anything the past couple weeks (breads have been no problem at all) and my doctor told me to be very careful because now that I have a fill eating will be very different. She told me to stay away from carbs as much as I can because they will likely get stuck and getting stuck scares me. I also gained 5 pounds since my surgery which is devestating to me. My doctor said that the first 6 weeks was a time of healing and not to beat myself up over the 5 pound gain because I still lost 11 pounds but it is very frustrating to me. My toughest time of the day is after 7pm. I seem to want to snack and I know that if I do feel the need to have a snack that it should be Protein or produce. Can anyone please let me know what some of your favorite healthy snack are?

I have not recieved my first fill as of yet but I can understand that craving after seven. When I get a sweet cravining i'll grab a sugar free popscicle, which you can get in the fruit flavors as well as dreamsicles or fugde pops. Those usually do the trick if not I sometimes have sugar free pudding or grab a greek yogurt with a little granola on top for crunch. I'm sorry I can't say anything to Snacks when you get a fill because I have no restriction and stick to the serving size because I too gained 5 pounds and was devistated.

Good luck on your journey

i know how you feel. the first 6 weeks about healing, not about losing weight. i too was back to eating what i did before i had the first fill. after my fill, i did notice a difference in eating. just watch what you eat, write it down and chew, chew, chew your food. greek yogurt has alot of Protein in it. i drink a Protein Shake in the mornings as i am rarely hungry until 10am.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
