Flintstone Vitamins Complete

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if taking Flintstone Vitamins would be okay post lapband surgery? I had my procedure on July 22, 2010 and the Caltrate and One A Day Vitamins were making me feel very yuck,,,so I quit taking them a few months ago... I figured that even though the Flintstone Vitamins are for kids,,,that at least I'd be taking something...it does say on the box that adults can take 1 a day,,,but,,,I don't know if that's enough or if I should take 2 a day? Thanks!

The nurse at my surgeon's office told me to take either optisource or Flintstones Complete. I bought the Optisource but will switch to Flintstones once I finish this bottle. (Optisource is kind of pricey.)

Flintstones used to be on my doctor's accepted list but no longer. I take Centrum chewable with Iron. They aren't too bad and I prefer them over the Bariatric Advantage brand. I take Viactiv chewables for Calcium.< /p>

I used to take Flintstones but I got sick of them getting stuck in my teeth and I don't like the graininess of them. Now I take One A Day VitaCraves gummies, they don't taste like Vitamins at all and they go down easy.

My surgeon told me the flintstones for kids were ok as long as I take 2 . They don't really taste that good to me and they do get stuck in your teeth. I'm may switch to the vitacrave gummies once I'm done with these. I remember them tasting better when I was a kid. Lol

I buy the costco Version of Flintstone's and my blood work has been fine. Make sure to get the Choline version. My doctor specifically mentions that.

As my pre Breakfast I do chewable multi, Calcium, D, Fiber. A hour before I take Biotin (for hair loss), coq10 (good for the heart and I'm on a statin so helps with muscle pain), and Iron pill.

I was told to not take my multi Vitamin and Calcium together but to allow several hours between them. Something to do with absorption, I don't remember exactly.

I don't like the chalky taste....

I take Target brand of the Vita gummies.... I can handle those ok and chew really well.

For the Calcium, I take the Target brand of the calcium gummies....

In the beginning I bought several different brands of the calcium chews (Caltrate, Viactiv, etc) and to me those taste horrible!!

I been doing the Flintstone's Complete with Choline for 7 years now.

My surgeon put all his Bariatric Patients on the Vitamins.

Dosage is 1 tablet 3 x a day. I just grab my 3 when I have time, and take them. Every Day....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
