Who didnt have gas pain

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering is it possible not to experience all this horrible gas pain that travels to the shoulder, collar bone, and chest pain that I see alot of folks posting about. I'm tentatively scheduled for dec

I had it for a week or so, and only very occasionally after that. All in all, I wouldn't stress out about it too much. Goodness knows, everyone has a different tolerance for discomfort, but it wasn't much worse than the level of discomfort you'd get from a really strenuous workout. And you're ahead of the game by knowing what it is. My clinic didn't mention it -- one of my few complaints about them -- and so I was kind of scared until I found out it was normal and didn't mean there was anything really wrong.

I had gas pain in my left shoulder for about 48 hours. It actually was kinda painful but it mostly just hurt when I breathed in deeply. Haven't had any problem in the last 2.5 days.

Zero pain here...I was expecting it though and stocked up on gas-x but haven't had to use it. I was banded Tuesday morning and was up walking within the first hour out of recovery. The hospital bed was soo uncomfortable I couldn't sleep so I walked most of the night and I drink lot's of Water. Good Luck!

I didn't really have any gas pains either. Went home the same day as surgery. I got up every hour to walk & keep blood clots away. Seemed to take care of it. It's all been pretty pain free for me.

I only experienced VERY mild gas pain in my pain left shoulder and back. And I mean VERY mild..... panadol was all I needed over the 1st few days and not every 4 hours.

I believe it is very important to get moving as soon as possible post surgery, even if it just a walk down the corridor of the hospital or around the garden once at home.

I found movement after eating/drinking eased mine.

Good luck....this is the best thing I have ever done, for me xx

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
