Hey Y’All!!

I am finally Banded!! I am sitting here with my spirometer and some lovely Water and a big ol’jar of liquid Hydrocodon… It’s all good.

I slept for a while after I got home – but that was mostly because I had to get up at *shudder* FIVE to go to the surgery center. Doctor Fox and all the folks at the Surgery Center of Richardson were wonderful and I never felt too self-conscious. Thankfully, they knocked me out before they all crowded around and laughed at my big fat belly (lol). <O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

No, really, they were fabulous and the whole thing was a breeze. Who knows what I will have to say tomorrow – but for today, I have no pain and not even any major gas issues. Well, since I just took another hit of Hydrocodon, I might not be entirely lucid, soon, so I will sign off now.<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

Thanks for all the well wishes, prayers and good thoughts.

</O:p

Irene

Welcome to bandland Irene!!! I am glad to see that you are up and walking and in good spirits. Remember to walk slowly and do it often. Short jaunts of moving around. And get the heating pad ready, when you need it, it will be a lifesaver!!!

R,

Wish you well with your recovery and soon you'll be dropping the weight like flies.

When you emailed me regarding your appeal letters, I noticed that your band date was going to be on my birthday. Today is a special day and you will always remember it as the day you took the BIG step to change your life forever. :)

T.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
