Meal Plan? Points System?

Recommended Posts

I started seeing a counselor a few months and at my appointment the other day she gave me a meal plan and points system. I have read through it, and I am still mildly confused. I am also intimidated by planning all my meals ahead of time. I am single and live alone, so left overs last FOREVER!

Has anyone else used or is currently using either or both of these methods? What were your experiences and results?

Advice? Suggestions?

Thanks, and good luck, everyone!

With 77 lbs lost already, you have obviously done something right before going to this counselor. I agree with you that following a diet plan and having to plan meals days and weeks ahead of time doesn't work for me. But everyone is different.

What HAVE you done to lose 77 lbs?! I can always use pointers! So far, what is working for me, is making sure I consume 80 grams of Protein per day, and stay under 1100 calories per day (I still write everything down, or I forget some of the stuff I've eaten!

I make or buy a lot of high protein/low calorie stuff, then divide it up into individual servings and freeze them. Gives me variety, and easy meals! If I go out to eat, I look for the low cal/high Protein stuff, and usually divide it in half immediately, and take the second half home for another meal.

Super good luck to your continued success!

My biggest tip is exercise. MyFitnessPal.com has also been a big help in tracking my calories and exercise. I actually eat about 1400 calories a day.

I am thrilled with my weight loss but I started seeing a counselor because I still do not feel my relationship with food is healthy.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Good luck, everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
