First Fill Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I got my first fill today (3cc) and am feeling a bit weird inside but OK overall. However, I was told to go back to liquids today and then to mushy foods tomorrow. Is this a typical protocol? Did others get the same instructions or is this just my dr.'s orders? Also, I'm just wondering if 3cc is a typical first fill. I was terrified of having it at all and was hoping to wait a bit longer before getting filled.

I'd be grateful to hear your experience with this matter.

Thanks,

JoJo

Hi Jojo,

I just had my first fill on Monday afternoon. He told me liquids for the remainder of the day, then on Tuesday I could go back to regular food. Also, he said that I now have 3 cc's of Fluid in the band. Apparently on surgery day he added some Fluid. I am not sure I was given on Monday but I did ask and he told me what I currently have. Have you noticed a difference with the fill? I definately notice a difference. I am so excited!

Good luck! :)

I got my first fill last Friday, I had 1.6cc put in, and the doctors orders were that I had to be 3 days in Clear Liquids, 3 days in soft food, and the resume normal food.

Hey JoJo,

I had my first fill yesterday and it was much easier than I had expected!! When my band was put on it had 2.5 cc in it already(which I didn't know) and now I am at 4 cc all together. I definitely notice a difference. I am finally eating once cup at a time. I did that for about a month but gradually got to regular meals over the last three weeks. My doctor told me to do liquids for two days and mushy for two more days then back to my regular diet. I did liquids yesterday and soft foods today and prolly will tomorrow then will go back to my normal diet. I just ate slow and small bites to make sure it didn't make me sick. I have a problem with lots of liquids giving me bad heartburn so I don't tolerate it well..haha. Four weeks of liquids in the beginning traumatized me!! Good luck with your journey...it sounds as well as mine!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
