Plateaus happen. Just keep doing what you're doing. It will pass. Take your measurements. You may find that you are still losing inches. I kick started my metabolism once by going on liquids for about 5 days. You might also try eliminating some stress from your life. I quit my high stress job earlier this year and lost 12 pounds within a month after having been on a very long plateau.

When I plateau, I log my food on myfitnesspal.com. I do it for a couple of days and it makes me realize that even though I'm eating healthy, sometimes I eat more calories than I think. I'll change up my diet and continue to log my food for a bit to make sure I'm on track.

I'm guilty with not logging my food everyday, but I'm really a busy person and can't do it. But, I do it when I'm plateau'ing for sure.

J.

Fayfay, I too was banded in December and am struggling right now. I'm still doing all the right things, but fighting with the scale. I bumped my calories up the scale went down, but now struggling again. Last appointment my dic wanted to give me a fill. I don't want one. I've been debating doing liquids for a few days, but last time I did I felt it was harder than pre and post op. I may just suck it up after weigh in tomorrow though

Just curious, doing a liquid diet, I had just gone with like 4 shakes a day. But I've found to little calories and I don't lose. Well, on the liquid I do, but then once I eat real food, it comes right back. should I do my full calorie allotment in liquids?

remember liquid is not only shakes...i would still eat SF Jello, pudding, light Soups, yogurt. You gain weight back because your body has gone into shock so its starving and when food enters in it absorbs it and turns it into fat automatically. You should still eat around 800-1100 calories a day.

Plateaus are going to come and go on the entire journey. Good days and bad days as well. This is now a life long process. The best thing is get moving and get your mind off of it. Keep your Protein high and your bad carbs in check. Ignore the plateau and it will pass.

This is exactly what I wanted to say! You won't lose everyday or even every week. But, you have done awesome, so far. Your weight loss will continue, just slower, now! Good Luck. Karen

Well, scale is up today (I had stayed off for 2 days), I am so depressed, though I did eat a little bit I shouldn't the last 2 days. But I'm gonna start a liquid diet tomorrow. I usually just do the shakes because, I hate pudding, and I dislike Jello. Maybe I'll eat some egg drop Soup though, and perhaps get a little yogurt. Gonna start tomorrow, since I'm going to Rosh Hashanna dinner tonight. I'm gonna try for 3 days at least. TMI-maybe it will relieve my Constipation for now.

I was also banded in December. I have had my share of plateaus.... I usually tried to just ride them out but increase my Water intake for a few days. That seems to get things moving again. During 2 plateaus the Water didnt help much so I went on sugar free instant Breakfast shakes (with Protein added) for a day... which seems to help... Just make sure you get at least 800 calories on your liquid day. However I will tell you my Dr doesnt advocate the Breakfast shakes... but told me they wouldnt hurt me as long as I drank 4-5 of them in a day.

The plateaus just confuse me. I have weighed the same thing for about 10 days. I up'd my Protein and Water. Then I up'd my workouts and calories and nothing. Then last night I ate a small portion of what I wouldn't consider the healthiest dinner and bam! I woke up today 3 pounds lighter than yesterday. I don't get it

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
