xavier 153 Posted October 1, 2011 I can eat all of it too but I do have to be careful. I couldnt live without tortillas or the bread my husband bakes. If I am talking and not paying attention to how I eat, I can get stuck on almost anything. NJGirl32 43 Posted October 1, 2011 Funnily enough, even though I dont have problems in general with bread - Subway bread - ugh. I can get some of it down but its a very risky food for me. Doughy breads are definitely harder. I watched my son down a foot long and was gobsmacked, I cant fathom anymore how somebody could eat SO much in a sitting, let alone so much bread. Do you really love Subway? I just dont get why people like it, but we all have different tastes. I really really want a meat pie today (an Aussie delicacy) and I know they're full of lips and assholes rather than identifiable meat! OMG!! LMAO!! I have tried a few different times. I have also been struggling with chicken. For some reason I vomit every time. Steak, now that is a tad challenging. I have to cut it in super small bites. I can eat celery. bread however, does give me issues. I can do a super thin crust pizza, but I usually just eat the toppings. I love love love veggie pizza. I can make the crust as thin as I want. I do a lot of Soups and salads. The whole process is trial and error. You will learn quickly what you can and cannot eat. BeGuiled 36 Posted December 31, 2011 I am interested in why I have read that during the post-op diets people wrote they can not have coffee, I can see going with out for a few days but I am uncertain how tempted I can be with out it and see me having to cheat this one. Also, is it the acid in the coffee or is it just cafiene, omg, no cafiene, no food, must be very hard at this point for some one who is a coffee lover or over-endulging in it prior tp doing this. I used to have problems with bananas - then I tried using frozen bananas in Protein smoothies - it's not quite the same as eating a fresh banana, but you still get the taste. As for chicken, I don't have a problem with it and I can't eat steak from a restaurant anymore (Used to love Applebee's)...though I don't have too much trouble with steak & chicken fajitas. The first time I had any Subway after my band I suffered - their bread is too doughy and always gets stuck - I'm not much for their meats either, so when Jimmy Johns came to town I was in heaven - I have them cut my sandwich into 4 pieces and have it for 4 meals - their bread rarely gives me problems unless I get dumb and eat too fast. Tortillas usually give me problems, so I have a half of one with my fajitas and eat it very slowly. I can't remember the last time I had celery. pizza is ok as long as I only have a couple small squares of thin crust. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I didn't for the first year (except occasionally) But now I have one or two cups a day (altho some times I just do the decaf). Coffee is a diuretic so it aides in ridding Fluid from your body. They want you to not drink caffinated coffee because it can help dehydrate you and Water is more important now, with the band, more than ever. I was told for every cup of coffee you drink you need to drink one more glass of Water. My advice... drink lots and lots of water if you are going to drink coffee. laddie1229 18 Posted January 3, 2012 Banded 12/29 so am still on full liquid diet. First no-no food V-8 juice. Have been in bathroom 6 times since shortly after Breakfast. This is the only new food since Saturday. I have had Tomato basil Soup Saturday night, no bother. Oh well, I don't mind giving up V-8 it really isn't a favorite. This is a learning process. tombstonec 0 Posted January 3, 2012 Been banded for nearly a year now; do throw up off and on.....but My doctor said that you can have coffee AND carbonated diet drinks "IF" you can tolerate them. My hint: if you are a diet soda fan, like me......have one a week or more....but NOT with food. IF I forget and order it With food in a restaurant; I then have to go outside OR into the bathroom to throw up. HOWEVER, if you drink carbinated beverages like throughout the day....little bits at a time....and without food....it works Fine with me. DonnaMP 13 Posted January 3, 2012 I can occasionally eat a grilled cheese if i smush it while cooking it. Occasionally I can eat rice but not often. Can't really do much Pasta. The worst seems to be lettuces. I can do a warm spinach salad but not a cold salad. Can't do stringy meats or veggies. I don't really try breads except for the occasional grilled cheese. Agape183 0 Posted January 5, 2012 I cannot eat RICE!! It almost always ends badly. bread I don't eat at all. I had one tiny piece while on vacation. chicken usually doesn't sit well with me either. It has to be cut extremly small and be extremely moist. I used to be able to eat mashed potatoes but now that I'm on my 3rd fill it's becoming harder. I can only eat a small amount which is the point I guess. I eat alot of ground turkey or beef with veggies cooked down in it. I also eat alot of Tilapia & Salmon. Depending on the day I may be able to finish an entire piece. I tried broccoli, onions, peppers, hummus, carrots are things I eat alot of. Voskos Greek Yogurt with the granola...my fav!! I drink Protein Shakes, sugar free Jello pudding, applesauce, and laughing cow lowfat cheese triangles. I have become a crystal light fanatic! Scrambled eggs with diced veggies, low fat cheese, and turkey bacon broken up into small pieces is a fav for breakfast...seems to always stay down and fills me for most of the day. My guilty pleasure...Bolthouse Farms vanilla Chai Tea with a extra scoop of unflavored or vanilla Protein Powder I really do depend on liquids alot to get anything in. Luckily (or unluckily?) for me, I can get anything down. I'm OK with this because only a couple of people know I'm banded, so it's not so noticable that I eat 'differently' now.
