before 1st fill Told doc I was full w/1 cu but its really 2cu

Recommended Posts

Just before I had my 1st fill today, the doctor asked how much solid food it took before I was full. I said 1cu but it's actually more like 2. Stupid me I thought I'd be in trouble if I said more than what I was supposed to be doing. He put 7cc in and when I drank Water it went down okay but I felt full up to my throat. So he took some out then when water went down very easily, he put some back in ended up filling with 4cc total. It doesn't feel like I'll feel full with the 4cc - of course won't know for a few days when back to solid food. Should I have told him it took a lot more than 1cu to feel full before he did the fill and that my weight loss has been due to willpower and less than 1000 calories? I know everyone is different and that some doctors like to go slowly to get to the sweet spot but should I try to get in before my 6 weeks appointment for 2nd fill since I wan't truthful and especially if I don't have restriction from this 1st fill?

I'm way worried that I'll get up to that 2cu eating again!

Thanks!

3 week pre-op diet lost 12lbs 6 week post-op have lost 23 lbs more...

Definitely be honest-he needs to know this info in order to judge the anount of fil needed. If you don't feel any different in a week I would call and try to bump up your appointment a week or 2 earlier. Your next fill should make a big difference! Good luck!:)

I would really be honest only because you don't want to be too full or too empty on the fills. I am going back in 2 weeks for my second fill and I think I am almost where I need to be. I get full at about a cup and a half but would love to be @ the half cup mark. We'll see. 7 cc's is alot to put in at once. I only got 2 cc the first fill and I think he might put one or two more in this time. Just be super honest the next time you go.

Definitely be honest with your dr. He/she may judge you but remember that they are there to work for our best health and the only way they can do that for us is with full disclosure. There's probably nothing you can say that he hasn't heard before!

At my last fill appointment, my surgeon said it was amazing all of the things that people would say to try to persuade him to give them a fill. I didn't need one that day and said so, but have just brought my next appointment forward as I am no longer satisfied on the smaller portions that I was before.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
