Where is my port hiding? Shouldn't there be an incision near it? Only have 2 incisions: a big one and a little one...No port.

And this hideous, random pain, when will that leave? Don't mean to sound so whinie but it hurts. Hurts bad. Not like having a baby bad more like why did you lie to me and say the pain is no big deal. That's like women saying after you have the baby you forget all about the pain. Have the baby and I remember the pain in contrasted detail. This lapband is, so, worth it but it stings Like hell healing.

Not sure about the 2 incisions thing but how many days post op are you? Everyone told me it wouldn't hurt and the day of surgery it didn't hurt because I was on all the drugs. Day 2, 3 and 4 I was very uncomfortable but day 5 brought some relief. Hope u feel better

That's what the pain Meds. are for ? Then it really shouldn't hurt ! If it does,, call your surgeon for something different.

You say only 2 incisions. Is one right down the middle of your stomach ?

In other words did he open you up ? If so, then the port should be where the other incision is.

If this is all wrong, done some other way, then you will have to ask your surgeon to show you where the port is.

Also, I have the single incision procedure so I have 2 holes. One main hole and one very small. I guess ufr I had double inc ision I would have 4 holes????

Lies all lies. There is no single incision. If there is ut comes with 2 holes.

"They" told me I would only be pregnant for 9 months too. 10

Women are pregnant for 10 months not 9. The lapband people must have seen me coming.

So cubicle, yet, so very happy I am.

Crap. I got banded today and the pain sucks. Nice to hear the pain will get worse. Not. I think getting banded is a lot like having a baby....moms forget all about the horid pain because they have a cute baby, bansters forget all about the pain because they end up witha new hot bod (eventually).

Your port is usually near the big incision. Since you have a big one and a small one I am guessing maybe they needed to make an extra incision to move your liver around even though it was supposed to be a single incision surgery.

Where you feel the most pain in your (usually) lower stomach is most likely where the port is near. I couldn't feel mine after surgery but once I started to lose weight it stuck out more and more.

Are you referring to a gas pain? It will leave eventually, it sucks at first your lungs might hurt, the more you more the faster you will get better ( as the gas will leave your system).

It will get better :)

I mean come on people we had surgery! It is going to hurt. I mean if you Hit your leg on a table there will be pain and even a scar! So Yes there is pain with the band but just like having a baby after a coupe of days or weeks you will forget all about it. And this is coming from me a person who hates pain!

Hmmm. You are told there will be pain when having à baby. Getting banded not so much.

I understand what you mean. I was told "most people are back to normal in just a few short days... You'll be fine with just Tylenol after surgery". Uhhh not the case for me. And I have one of the tops doctors in the nation. He's great. Love him. But I was definitely not expecting the pain I had. It took me 8 days for the gas to go away. It was hell but so worth it. 7 weeks post op- down 20 lbs since surgery, down 2 pants sizes and my wedding ring is off getting resized- dropped 1 and 1/2 sizes!

My doctor does the single incision too. Which is really two incisions. Your port is probably by the larger incision. My port is above my belly button about 2 inches and to the left a little.

You'll feel better soon. Promise :-)

Not sure as you only ahve two incisions, but its almost certain your port will be near the big incision - mine is slightly above - but I have the oldstyle five incisions.

Cant you feel it at all?

A friend of mine (2 of them actually) who have been banded said the pain is no big deal. One went to a wedding on day 2 post op. Well it's 2:50 am on day 1, I guess technically day 2, and guess what I will NOT be doing tomorrow. Yup, going to a wedding. Lol. I do have another friend who has the band and she was in pain and told me it hurts. Guess I will be sure to call her to whine and not the other 2.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
