Not Happy

Recommended Posts

I'm not happy with my results!! I had my lapband put on in late July & 2 fills later no luck. Has anyone else had this problem? I did lose like 10 lbs but then I put it back on during the holidays. Can't seem to get back on tract again. HELP

Please don't be offended, but...

1) Are you active??

2) Are you sticking to the diet??

If you are, then chances are you need to get another fill...

If not, then here's my motivation...Maybe it will work for you.

Everytime I start to "fall off the wagon", I remind myself that I actually had surgery to help myself win the battle with weight. I think about the recovery, the scars, the gas, the pain, and that I don't want it to all be for nothing...It usually works for me. Plus, once you start to lose the weight, you get really excited, and it gets a little easier.

Good Luck! Stay Strong and Positive!! You can do it!!!

You know what you are eating, and you know whether you are exercising.

As most of the surgeons, nurses and dieticians say:

Weight loss is a simple balance of getting a calorie deficit.

If you aren't losing weight, all sorts of things can be happening, like:

1. Weight redistribution. Exercise changes fat to muscle. If you are working yourself nuts at the gym, look for NSV's rather than the scale.

2. If you look at your diet and find it primarily made up of fat and sugar, you've found your culprit.

3. If when you sit down to eat, you chug Water at the same time, there again could be your answer.

What are you eating? Give an honest breakdown of your daily average intake. What exercise are you doing?

There will be an answer somewhere in your equation, you just have to gather all the bits together :puke:

Hello OMC, welcome to my life.

I'm sure you are doing everything you should be doing, so it's time to take different action. Make an appointment with your doctor and demand answers. You might have a metabolic disorder, you might not. You might need another fill, you might not.

Keep your chin up, and keep looking for answers. I know it's hard. Trust me, I know and feel your pain. Feel free to PM me. And welcome to the Turtle Tribe.

Vines could indeed be right. If anyone knows what it is to struggle for every ounce lost its her. I would suggest looking over the great list on this thread and if you are following all the guidelines listed there and are still unable to lose, then contact your doctor and get checked out.

Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
