Loose Skin & Sex After Lap Band Surgery

Recommended Posts

Does it matter, does it get in the way, is it a turn off? How have you guys handled it and how have the partners handled it. Do you feel more self conscience with the loose skin?

I would have to say I sadly look like a Shar Pei puppy lol. But hey only 2 more years and then insurance will pay for it to be removed so yeah I dont like it. Does it get in the way not really maybe a little. Not sure if it is a turn off as being married I dont have too many women checking it out lol. Maybe some single guys can help ya a bit more with some of the questions. lol

Does it get in the way? Maybe a little but not nearly as much as my big fat belly did.

Don't know if it is a turn off, depends on how vain your partner is. Since I am married my wife doesn't seem to be turned off by it, of course she didn't really mind when I was 390 lbs either.

Do I feel self conscience. Not nearly as much as I did when I was at my maximum weight, of course I am not out to win any beauty contests and I really don't plan on showing up at the beach in a speedo either.

From a female perspective. Since the hubby lost over 90 lbs, he was a little self conscious of his "loose skin". I personally did not care, nor is it a negative, he is as much of a cheeky monkey now as he was before the weight loss....well now, I lie...he is more so now that he knows that I find him as sexy as ever and he has tons more energy...

Hey LarryPDot, you are looking good! I remember your first picture! congrats on losing those pounds!

Also from another female. My boyfriend has lost 150+ lbs since feb and still has another 100 to go. I don't mind the loose skin. Although I met him when he was 440lbs. I wasn't physically attracted to him when he weight that much. I was attracted to him mentally and emotionally. Now that he's lost a lot of weight the physical attraction is stronger but when we have sex it doesn't get in the way much at all. Only time I have a problem with it is when the extra skin at his belly when he lifts it it weird me out if he kinda flops it on me but usually he does it so I don't notice and I'm not bothered. Now that I have had the surgery I understand what he's going through. I love him and all his loose skin too!

It's not as bad as he used to do the belly flop because it used to drive me nuts but I eventually brought it up to him and he didn't even know he was doing it.. now he does it another way that i don't notice as much

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
