that is great. nice way to start the new year. I was put on the surgeon's schedule for December 1st on our first visit. she said that day can change if i didn't get all of my doctor approvals. but it looks like that day should be a go as i am just waiting for one more. I can't wait. i am so excited. I hope i have success. i think that i watch a few too many you tube videos because i stumbled upon a few people talking about loose skin and now i am worried about that. i think i am going to stick to this forum that i just started to blog and stay away from any negative videos on you tube. i was told that since my bmi is higher i have to do a two week pre op liquid diet, there goes my thanksgiving. but i will give up thanksgiving for a skinny bod. did you have an upper endoscopy? was it easy?

I wish my surgeon's office was like yours. They will only put you on the schedule for surgery once you've gotten the go ahead from the insurance company. The Bariatric coordinator says it can take 6-8 weeks from the time of approval. I'm cutting it pretty close which means everything gotta fall into place perfectly....

I had an Upper GI yesterday and I must say it was not as bad as some of the reviews on here. The barium wasn't the best thing I've tasted but it was not the worst that could have happened to me. I was fortunate and only had to do one standing which meant I only had to drink one cup of the barium. Overall I think you will do fine.

I'm with you....I'm so excited about the band I can't hardly wait. I know that things do happen and some people are not successful but I honestly think a lot of this will be mind over matter. If you THINK you will be successful YOU WILL BE successful. At least that's my mindset and I'm sticking to it LOL...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
