I would talk directly to your surgeon and find out what is going on and demand answers! Remember, they work for you so don't be afraid to take up an hour of his precious time as your time to go see him is just as precious to you. This (to me) doesn't sound right what is your band size? I have a 10cc band but I have seen others that have a 12cc and 15cc band. I don't have any answers to give you but I hope you find some answers soon. Good luck!!

Definitely make an appointment to see your Doctor, not the nurse. If the Doc tells you that (I doubt it) go to someone else. I have a 10cc band and when I had 6.5 I had no restriction and lost no weight...I would have self payed for nothing... Good luck!

Remember - the band's purpose isn't to provide restriction, it's meant to make you less hungry so you can eat less naturally, feel full faster, and for longer.

If you choose to overeat then you're at fault - not the band.

You still need to ask your Dr office for the new rules - in writing - and ask why they changed the rules and why you are cut off as that's not the point of the band.

However, make sure the issue isn't you before you seek out another fill. It sounds like you're eating too much because you want to - not because you need to.

I disagree with Acadia but I know the band is different for all of us. Yes, I'm less hungry and yes, I feel full longer. But the reason I have lost weight consistently without exercising or dieting is because I can't eat as much at one time. For me , its all about restriction! Sometimes I eat when I'm not hungry and sometimes I (try to ) overeat...but my band doesnt let me eat more than about 3/4 cup of food!

Agree with xaviar, no way I can over eat, it just wouldn't go down. If you are doing everything you are suppose to do, go back to your surgeon. My nurse said they dont go over 8mls in a 10ml band, she only told me this as I was getting my first fill. Now I've 6mls and think i'l only need a small fill, but if I need more i'l be politely demanding it. I paid for my surgery out straight and not to be told something that important is mad to me especially since from day one they all say 'oh no one is the same, we all need different fills', yet their telling you 'well if you don't have restriction and satisfaction by a certain level, tough'!

Not on and not fair, especially if your doing everything right

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
