restriction worries (lack of)

Recommended Posts

Hi there. Im on my 2nd fill and have got 6.5ml in a 10ml band. Had this fill 8 weeks ago. Now at first the restriction was spot on and was in the zone, only be able to consume small amounts of certain foods. Trial and error in what I ate and threw up lots of times due to being stuck and went through the sliming stage - still do at times. HOWEVER after 8 weeks, im able to consume larger abounts of certain foods as previously did. I mean almost to the point of being able to eat like pre-banding. WHY IS THIS.?? Occassionally on some days I cant eat large meals but sometimes I can. DO I NEED ANOTHER FILL???

sounds like you need another fill. my nurse explained it to me last week. as you loose weight, the fat around the stomach is basically melting off, thus the band becoming looser and you needing to be filled up more for more restriction. that is why you need several fills. you are not doing anything wrong, just time for another fill.

WOW....sounds like you had Nurse Ratchet !!

I would not tolerate such behavior...I would first ask nicely to speak with your Dr...and if she did not

comply with your wishes...I would go bonkers until I at least spoke to someone higher up than her!!

Please remember that you are the patient (whether self pay or insurance) and therefore you are in

control...not her.

Our journey can be difficult at times and I hope you get this matter resolved so you can continue on

with your great success...good luck!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
