mytime2shine 1 Posted September 20, 2011 Wow! So my insurance requires that I do a pre op visit with a therapist..I am a little creeped out by this place..I am glad to see some of these people here getting help...just filling out my paperwork made me feel a little nuts by the questions on it. I think I chose the wrong doc...lol
mytime2shine 1 Posted September 20, 2011 This is really starting to creep me out..I think I chose the wrong place for my pre op appointment...oh gosh
AMayo1 2 Posted September 20, 2011 it is your insurance that is most likely requiring the pysche appointment, not the place that you chose. They just want to make sure that you are in the proper state of mind to go through with the surgery. I went to 2 appointments and received the go ahead from the therapist. Snoopyloverny 3 Posted September 20, 2011 OMG I am so there with you. I am nervous too about my psyche eval... is there a way to fail????? My therapist says there is not however, the questions do make me question myself and that is a little scary. They ask the same questions so many different ways. I will be glad when this is done. Its the last thing on my list and tomm I should hear that they are ready to present to the insurance co. Darn, it has been a long 4 months! Anxiety and busyness, appts and tests! Ugh - just let me get the surgery already! Right?!
mytime2shine 1 Posted September 20, 2011 Ummm that's not what my issue was..I was surrounded by severely...mentally handicapped people. It was like one flew over the coookooos nest..it started to break my heart. I just prayed for them and for me to get the hell outta there.
mytime2shine 1 Posted September 20, 2011 Oh the visit with the doctor was very pleasant. He just asked about my history of weight issues and if I understood that it is life changing and that if I ever needed him I could come back....ummm NO. I told him that there are support groups which I highly intend to use. Got my letter and they didn't commit me.
thatchick_j 7 Posted September 22, 2011 Tragically funny. I agree, you were way out of your league for psychiatric care. Hopefully, you got a really good price. Glad you didn't committed. The psych patients were prolly thinking you were crazy for being there sane, relatively, anyway.
readytogoforit 172 Posted September 23, 2011 they just want to be sure you can handle the large weight loss in such a fast pace. Not everyone is ready for such a big change. The funny thing you will do is the MMPI test, they will know who you are after that is done. Don't worry it's all part of the "getting ready" procedure. Wow!
