When should my dermabond start to peel?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was banded five days ago and I am starting to see a hole in a small section of the dermabond on one of my incisions. Is it normal for it to be separating now, or did I tear something?

Thanks!

Took about 10 days before mine started peeling. It was all gone before I had my first post op check up. Itches doesn't it? It pulled the little hairs on my skin when it came off and that hurt a tiny little bit but it felt so good to have it off.

Mine was mostly gone at my 10 day follow up appointment.. So mine probably started peeling around the same time. Just try not to pick at it. I'm a picker so it was hard for me :-) how are you feeling??

I'm generally ok. The incision has definitely pulled apart. My bro is a doc and sis a nurse so I texted them a rather graphic pic of it. I'll call my surgeon in the AM to see if they want to re-bond it.

Other than that, pretty good. Mainly trying to get enough food in that I don't feel like passing out. :) Very happy about my decision and prepared for my long, but rewarding journey. :)

Well I saw the doc today and the incision has completely re-opened and the dermabond is gone. He wants me to clean it once a day with hydrogen peroxide and use neosporin. I hope it heals soon. Next appt with doc in two days.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
