jollymon 0 Posted September 19, 2011 How do I get started. I have been a big man for 40 years an I am sick of it. I have tried everything only to gain it right back. Can anyone tell me where to start. font="Comic Sans MS"][/font]
BaileyRose 13 Posted September 19, 2011 First, call your insurance and see if lap band surgery is covered. 2nd, research surgeons in your area and when you find one you believe is credible, make an appointment with his office for a consultation. Then the office should help you from there. That's exactly what I did :-) Hope that helps! And congrats on a new beginning!
54Shirley 105 Posted September 19, 2011 I saw a specialist for another matter, and he told me where to go for surgery, at a CENTER of EXCELLENCE in BARIATRIC SURGERY. I made a apt. and they checked out the Ins. for me. (I WOULD RECOMMEND CHECKING INTO IT YOURSELF, SO YOU KNOW WHAT IT COVERS) Then set up a appointment with my PCP so he knew about it. The rest is History. Good Luck to you !
Corrigan 75 Posted September 27, 2011 I agree with Shirley, I would go to the American College of Surgeons website and find a Center of Excellence in your state and contact them to get the ball rolling. You can be assured that the care and education you receive will be as good as you'll find anywhere.
