Although not as swift as some of you, I am proud to have found some pants that did not hurt, go down the steps, walk on my hilly parking lot for a bit and climb back up the stairs. I am 57 and not a spring chicken, but I am still having a fair amount of pain on the left side. It has lessened each day, but still is there. There is no way I could walk two miles or go back to work right now. I am proud of all you that have been able to do so, but some of us may just be slower healers than others. I am having no problem with nausea or drinking my thin liquids, which include strained cream Soups. Cold stuff gives me a little bit of shoulder pain, but I am sure that wil go away soon enough. Trying to get in all my liquids and Proteins is a tough challenge, but one I am striving to complete. All in all I am pleased with my progress but will be glad when a few more days healing has transpired.

Sounds like you are doing well. We all heal differently and at our own pace. Keep up the good work. I am day 3 post op.

Thanks for the support. I just wanted those that are not healing as quickly as some to know that they are not alone.

I, too, was a slow healer. I thought it would be quick for me since I'm young(25) and healthy... But oh no. When I woke up on day 8 the gas pain was finally gone. :-/

Sounds like you're doing great! You'll definitely feel normal before you know it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
