Are my fills working?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am 15 weeks post surgery. I am starting to get really frustrated. I am not feeling very little to no restriction. My husband has even said to me that he is not seeing a difference in how much I eat. I have had several fills and I believe I have 9ccs in my 11cc band. I am just wondering if anyone out there has been through the same thing? I have only lost 12 pounds and now I am stuck..... I losse 3 pounds then within a couple days I gain it right back. I just want to CRY!What is wrong with me why am I not feeling restricted. Is it possible that my first 4 cc fill did not go into the port? I am going to call the doctor tomorrow and let them know that I am frustrated and ask if I can come in early for my next appointment.....

Wow, I can't believe you have 9cc's already. It took my dr.'s over a year to fill me up that much...but I too was over 10cc's before I felt any restriction. Do you have any signs the band is working?

does it take longer to be hungry? Do you have to drink slower?? Burping alot when you do eat?? Cause if you have any of these, I would just say hang in there.... it will come. Unfortunatly they don't tell us before hand but some of us need to be almost over filled to feel the restriction. However if you don't have any signs the band is ok, then you should start talking to your dr. about doing some tests to see, 1 if it is in the right place...2 was filled properly or missed a fill.....3.I don't even know, but this is what they finally did for me after a year of me crying.... I know how bad you feel...really.

but after my second surgery they got the dang band in properly & it still took over a year & I am not sure how full my band is now....I had to stop keeping track of the cc's cause that was making me nuts!!

Mine is working now...2 & 1/2 years later... I hope yours don;t take as long...but try not to beat yourself up so much now....just do what you can be pro-active & assertive w/your doc. Watch what you eat.

& give it some time....15 weeks is not very long, I am sure it took longer than that to put it on. I know you are dying to get started, but from what I have read on here, it is better to do a slow fill, not just jump up to restriction. Some are lucky & it seems to go smoother & quicker for them. But just count your self in the "special" group, cause you are & however long it takes, it will happen for you too!!

i

Just because you can eat as much as you did before you shouldnt you should be eating a cup of food 3 times a day and maybe a snack or two. I can not believe you let your doctor fill you that much in 15 weeks. When you are completely filled what will you do. Are you exercising, sleeping. Stay off the scale. Stop getting fills and stop eating as much as you did pre surgery. You will not lose weight if you continue to eat as much as you did before surgery.

Our stories are almost the same. I was banded on 6/27/11. I have only lost 12 lbs. I keep losing and regaining the same three pounds over again. It's very frustrating. I feel like a failure, and I'm so glad I didn't really tell anyone that I was having surgery. However, two days ago, I went to 9cc's. Since then, I have only been able to eat very little. I'm happy, but just a little concerned about getting all of my Protein in. Going to post to see if anyone can confirm if this is the "sweet spot" I've been waiting for, or if I am too tight. So hang in there. It's coming....Good luck! Hope you'll be smiling soon.

Thank you so much for you help. I do burp a lot more since I had my band put in. I also believe there is longer periods of time between me getting hungry. I am going to start a food journal today so that I can take it to my next appointment with me. I did not even think about my band not working. I have an appointment here in a few days and I will be sure to ask the "Fill Lady" about it. But, being I am burping and not as hungry in between meals I believe it must be doing something. RIGHT? Thank you so very much!

Thank you for your reply. I have made it a point of cutting my food intake back on my own. I might be eating about 2 1/2 of food but that is way less than I did pre surgery. The hungry feeling is not coming in-between meals as much as it use to but is still does. Maybe my problem is that I need to talk to a nutritionist. Maybe I need just a little extra help with what I am eating. Hmmmmm That is another good thing to talk to the "Fill Lady" about at my next appointment. Thank you SO much!

THANK YOU so much for your reply. I feel so much better knowing that I am not the only one that has this problem. Know knowing that you had the same issue and now you are finally feeling restriction makes me feel so much more hopeful. I did feel like a failure too. I have not been to one of the support groups because I was kind of embarrassed to go in there and say "Hi my name is ______ and I am not losing anything" I am very proud of the 12 pounds that I have lost because I have some new found energy. Although it might be coming from the Multivitamin that I take every day I am going to keep telling myself it is from the weight loss. It just just a little pick me up that I think about when I am feeling down. I can not wait to get to my "Sweet Spot"! Once again thank you so much!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
