Thanks to all. I was given all the info about what I should be drinking , when and how much. Before surgery I got everything in and knew EXACTLY what I should do. It just seems that when I got home I went brain-dead !dry.gif I know I'm not drinking as much as I should but am going to try an increase all liquids. What is the amount of liquids at a meal such as broth do you drink at one sitting?

Trying to force liquids as I know I am not drinking enough. With broth or shakes I am doing half servings, 4 oz at a time. I just added some unflavored Unjury Protein Powder to my Water with a SF Hawaiian Punch packet. It is not too awful bad and is helping with the Protein level that I need to reach. Having more shoulder pain today, and am very very sore on the left side of my tummy. Moving and coughing causes a lot of pain, but I know it will get better with time. My stomach is so sore I cannot yet wear pants on it. Hope tomorrow that changes.

Here is a tip that I still use.

Put 64oz. in the Fridge for the next day.

Everything that you mix Water in. You use that Water.< /p>

oatmeal, shakes, Mashed potatoes, what ever...

You use that water including DRINKING.

You get your Fluid intake for the day. and

you don't have to worry about just drinking water at 64oz. a day.

Wash your Jug out at night, and fill again for the next day.

Hope this helps the Confusion.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
