Hi there. My name is Lisa aka Scrapper4life. I live in a small town just south of Wpg, MB. I work full time in a credit union. I have been married to my husband for 18 years and we have two beautiful daughters, age 9 & 11. Our life is comprised of ringette, cheerleading, softball and any other activities our two girls can get away with. I also have a serious scrapbooking addiction (just in case you didn't get that from my screen name). I don't get to scrapbook as much as I like because of the aforementioned activities, but have lots to scrapbook because of the same! LOL

My surgery is scheduled for Sept 27th. I'm on day 2 of the 2 week pre-op diet, which kind of sucks. I'm very nervous about the upcoming surgery and just know I'll find support here, even though I do have lots of support from family and friends. (I've got 4 girlfriends following modified dietplans with me!!!) I am looking forward to learning from others experiences and hearing everyone's success stories...have to focus on the positive things! The thing I'm most looking forward to is , in addition to the eating less and exercising more is buying non-plus-sized clothing!

Welcome Lisa. Good luck with your pre-op diet. I was so excited to get a quick surgery date (less than a month from getting my referral from my GP to surgery!) that I breezed thru the pre-op diet.

I'm from Australia so I was wondering what vignette is?

all the best

It's RINGETTE - it's kind of like hockey for girls, but totally different rules. It's played with a straight stick and a rubber ring. It's a super fun game to watch because they have to pass over the blue lines. It's very much a team sport. My daughter is only 9 and each year the game gets faster.

I am also new to this board, i was banded on September 9th and today is the first day i can have something besides broth, Yippee. I did the preop liquids and i started at 215 and this morning i'm at 203, worth it, that is a big "YES" you can do this, take it one hour at a time it is easier that way.

Hi Electronicart...

Glad to have you along for this ride. Today is 3 day of my pre-op diet and I'm struggling a little, but I'm going to push through. I'm going to see Keith Urban in concert tonight, so I'll be good and distracted for the evening!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
