My first "SLIME" in Cancun!!!

Recommended Posts

So, I'm on a trip for work to Cancun.... Sitting in the restaraunt with the nice white table cloths - eating the dry chicken and fish I was explicitly told not to eat. Just had surgery a while ago and assumed that all restriction was gone..... NOT!!!!!!!

Feel a tremendous pressure in my chest and remember everyone's stories about being out to eat at a restaurant and either sitting near the bathroom, or carrying a zip lock bag "just in case". I had neither. I quickly excuse myself from the table and run outside the restaurant and hide behind a stack of chairs. I'm feeling rather ill and know I can't throw up... this is not an option because I don't want to screw up my new band. Deep breaths - then, what's this???? liquid starts pouring out of my mouth.... I hear a cart and footsteps coming around the corner and think frantically - what to do now???? Run down the sidewalk toward the beach... this seems to make me feel better, so I keep doing it. After 10 minutes or so I feel better and decide to go back in. Needless to say, I sent my plate away and opted for the irish coffee instead.... was this a good idea? who knows, but it seemed to work.

Anyway - I am assuming this was my first slime, so thought I'd share.... :)

Night all!

Kim make sure you use something to lubricate that dry stuff, it really helps. When I am somewhere that I can't make a choice I always order some ranch dressing on the side to dip it in. :)

:faint:

Ok, of all the advice you have been giving me!!!! Luckily, with all the crap I have been eating I have not had this pleasure yet. Of course I have not tried real meat yet. I have had the golf ball in my chest thing though.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I hope you were ok quickly after that and it did not ruin your night.

Take care kimmy girl!

Hey Jack - No worries - I'm off dry chicken and salmon forever. Don't want to do that again! I had no problems up until that point and really thought I could eat whatever I wanted until my first fill (provided that I chewed enough). Just not the case though! UGH! I'll be more careful now! It was kind of funny though - thinking back on what that must've looked like. The girls eating dinner with me found it hillarious.

Betty - Good idea on the ranch. I'll keep that in the back of my head. Sticking to soft stuff now though when I'm out to dinner I think :-).

Kim & Sus - I know, I know.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
