Greek Yogurt

Recommended Posts

I found a really good Greek yogurt, it is Oikos organic Greek yogurt, the caramel is absolutely yummy, it is fat free but the only draw back is it had 16g of sugar, I buy mine at my local Walmartbiggrin.gif

I love that yogurt. It's got 13 to 15 g of Protein per package, so it's a good bang for the calories, in my opinion. Plus you don't have to mess with it.

I like the Fage or whatever brand it is. I like the honey one that comes in its own side container not mixed together. That way I can add my own sweetness based on how I am feeling. The premixed versions are nasty!

I have never tried Fage but I have a carton of it sitting in my fridge now to try soon. I mainly stick with Chobani, I haven't met a flavor of it yet that I don't absolutely adore. Right now, I am particularly fond of the Pomegranate, the Black Cherry and the Peach, although my favorites tend to flip flop around from month to month. :)

I like plain greek yogurt. I sweeten it up with a few drops of liquid stevia, then add some fresh fruit and sometimes a pinch of Cereal. It's great! I do love the fage 0% ones with the mix in, but I only get those once in a while because of the sugar.

My fave so far is Chobani but it's expensive when it's not on sale. The Oikos isn't bad either but I don't think it's "the best in the world." I bought a couple containers of Fage to try so we'll see how that goes! Supposedly it was rated one of the top greek yogurts in flavor.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
