Neck Lift surgery thins past May..Best Decision EVER!!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded in Feburary of 2010 and by Feburary of 2011, I had lost a little over 100 lbs and for me, my dangly neck skin was the worst side effect of having lost the weight. I felt thinner all over, but when I looked at myself in the mirror, all i could focus on was the extra neck skin. From the side, I looked like a turkey with the waddle hanging down.

I consulted with Dr. Ross Clevens here in Melbourne, Florida and after seeing the computer generated estimates of what the results would be, I knew it was what I needed to do. Admittedly, recovery hurt like a son of a biscuit, but I am a major wuss and for a normal person it probably would have been that bad, but the results are amazing and I have never been happier. I've been told it took 10 years off my face and when i look in the mirror, I see the person I really am now.

Be sure to research your plastic surgeon and ask questions, check the web for other patient reviews and trust your gut. Don't just rush into to for the sake of getting plastic surgery done. I paid $6500 and that was the full deal from anesthesia, surgery, etc...I chose to do a couple of extra things, so it really would have only been $5995. It was worth every penny.

If you'd like to see photos from my surgery visit my lap band blog at http://dreamsofskinnyhighheels.blogspot.com/2011/05/post-surgery-day-two-with-details-and.html and you will see the photos...I've dropped 10 lbs since my surgery and am in maintenence, so my current photos (I posted one on my blog yesterday) show what I currently look like, as my surgery was at the end of May. I was swollen for a few weeks and remember...never forget...that the results are not instantaneous. You will swell a bit, you will think there is no difference, if you have Lipo, your skin will be ripply at first as the tissue underneath has to heal for a number of weeks, etc...

All I know it was worth every minute of Vicodin enhanced time off of work!!

Enjoy and feel free to email or post questions and I'll be happy to respond!!

Regards,

Stephanie

Your pictures look great but what actually did they do? You are young so did they just do Lipo and have you wear that bandage? I am 50 and was told the skin is too loose so would not bounce back if they did lipo.

Regards

ROSS

No, they did not just do Lipo. If they had done that, I would have looked even worse than I did before. I am 39 and yes, I have decent skin, but I had a LOT of loose skin. They did lipo, but they also tightened the neck muscles and also tightened the skin. I have an incision under my chin and 2 incisions behind my ears where the skin was pulled back as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
