Bariatric Dish

Hello everyone,

I'm scheduled to see a bariatric surgeon coming up in 2 weeks and I'm starting to get excited about having surgery. I was looking around to see if there was anything out there to help me stay on track with portion sizes after surgery. I found a couple of things out there, but the one I like the most is something called the BariBowl. Has anyone heard of this? I'm interested to see what other people think. I found it at www.Bariware.com

Please help!!!

There isnt much worse than a money-making gimmick. Find out from your doctor how much you should be eating and then either invest in a set of cheap plastic portable measuring cups or those disposable storage containers that are that amount and use those. Do you really want to rely on something like that? Taking it out every time you go out to eat instead of learning how to measure on your own? For me, I have learned based on the size of my fist, fingers, palm, etc how much is the right portion for things. I say don't waste your money... Save it for new clothes!

Thanks! I don't think this one is a gimmick. Actually, I went back and looked at it and it looks like it was developed by the bariatric surgeon I am scheduled to see in a couple of weeks. I will check it out when I go to the office and let you know :)

I think it looks sort of silly, but if you think it'll be helpful to you, go for it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
