may be moving to SC??? HELP

Recommended Posts

hello Friends-

I may be faced with a big move, i was just banded in March of 2011 and may be moving south to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Also my possible new employer does not give health insurance BUT does give 3000 towards it.

So my question is 2 fold

1. Has anybody had any good or bad with the " Fill centers" i see there is one right on HHI wich would be helpfull. I will be talking more to my DR once i know more and see what they have to say, but in t he meatime i would like some feed back from fellow banders.

How bad is it with OUT insurance???? i think i can get health insurance on my own with the $ they give me, Ehealthinsurance or something??

2. Anybody near HHI or Savanah GA, that has been banded and know of a good Dr ?

now being banded things like moving are a little bit more of a challange, =)

im really at the begining stages so not to many people know yet, so i ask my fellow lap banders for help first =)

Hi...I used the Fill Center USA in California and am extremely happy with the service I received. Was costly for my first visit, but was well worth it.....I didn't use one of their local offices (drove about 1 1/2 hrs away) because I wanted to be filled by fluoro but I know if I needed an unfill there are offices locally that can do the job. Was a little skeptical when I drove up to the office (a back pain drs office) but she was fantastic, knew what she was doing, took her time, did a great job....worth trying in SC if you don't know someone who can recommend a good dr for you....Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
