DaWnGo 0 Posted September 11, 2011 I feel kind of bad. I got a fill two days ago and it's kind of tight I can't eat much everything gets stuck. So tonight my husband wanted some chicken for dinner and wanted me to eat it so I forced it down by drinking big gulps of Water. Is this bad? I didn't want him to feel bad because he thought I would be able to eat it. and now I still feel it in my throat.
Nechama L 4 Posted September 11, 2011 Your husband needs to respect you and your new limitations. You should NOT be eating solids two days after a fill! After a fill you should have liquids for two days, mushies for two days and then move to solids because otherwise you could cause your band to slip. Don't force yourself to eat something that could be dangerous for you and definitely don't gulp anything. You are just asking for trouble.
DaWnGo 0 Posted September 11, 2011 my doctor allows solids 24 hours after a fill. just the first 24 liquid and mushies.
flowergirly 2 Posted September 11, 2011 My doctor says 24 hours also. Although, I have to admit that I've snuck in a few solids chewed up very well in the past. Most times I stick with the rule though. I was always told not to drink while I eat, but to wait 20 minutes before I drink. The chicken should go down. It's just so uncomfortable waiting! Good luck. 54Shirley 105 Posted September 11, 2011 Here is what we do every time we get filled or unfilled. liquids for 3 days, mushies for 2 days, then try food. If you get filled, and don't follow the rules, you will find yourself on fluids untill the swelling goes down... I drink Water all the time with my meals. but I figure out my calories first.... This way I won't! eat more then I am suppose to. So if I go to bed hungry (I don't) I will wait until the next day to think about having something to eat. I won't go over my goal. Not everyone eats like this. You need to find what works for you. Your husband won't die if you don't eat that extra piece of chicken. He'll get use to it. Mine did !
